Hi Everyone!
We're G.U.T.S. (that's an acronym for Give Us The Strength) indie rock band from Washington, DC. Maybe you're one of our faithful fans or maybe we're new to you. Either way, we're ready to release our debut album and need you to make it a reality! We're doing it completely on our own without a label so we'll be relying on our amazing fans to pledge their support.
A LITTLE ABOUT US
We are Tiik, Tina & August and we are very excited to produce our first CD titled "It Takes G.U.T.S." We live in Washington, DC, though Tina temporarily lives in Berlin, and we've been playing together since 2009. We are all passionate about our music.
- Tiik - singer/songwriter/guitarist, has twice been a grant recipient from the DC Commission on The Arts and Humanities; has had many bands over the years, including with Toshi Reagon and with various Washington DC punks. Her bands have played many Positive Force benefits and she co-managed DC's one of a kind Food For Thought Restaurant until it closed it's doors in 1999 and now lives inside the Black Cat Club as Food For Thought Cafe.
- August - singer/songwirter/bassist, has been in other Washington DC area bands previous to joining G.U.T.S.
- Tina - drummer, owns District Drum Company and has built for Les Warner(The Cult), Rob San Pietro(Meatmen), Leesa Harrington Squyres(Lez Zepplin) and Patty Schemell(Hole) among others, and was featured in Tom Tom Magazine and Drum!Magazine for the MEET YOUR MAKER article.
OUR GOAL
is to release our CD this October 2011. Our amazing recording engineer is J. Robbins, Magpie Cage, Baltimore, MD. Our mastering engineer is Carl Saff, Saff Engineering. And our CD production guy is Chris at Sooper Dooper. We'll be doing this recording without the help of a record label, so we're asking for help from our fans, family, friends and all random angels who fall magically upon this page. Listen to some of our music, and consider donating to our debut CD - "It Takes G.U.T.S." Check out some tunes on our reverbnation page www.reverbnation.com/gutswithtiik

Every dime we raise for "It Take G.U.T.S." will go directly to funding the recording, manufacturing, and marketing of our album. It's no small endeavor, and we're so excited to have an opportunity to do this totally on our own, and to make you part of the process. Pick a reward that feels right to you and please join us as we continue our musical journey.

Kickstarter.com is a great company that allows you to raise money for the idea or endeavor of your choice. It allows fans to invest on different levels and get cool stuff in return. Also how great is it that you can help be part of the whole process and help make this possible? We know that with your help we can achieve this goal together, and hopefully even surpass it! Because if we raise even more, we might even be able to hire a publicist, plan a tour, and give this album the push that it needs to be a success! So, check out the rewards and see which one strikes you as most awesome and DO IT.

There's a catch, of course...if we don't meet our goal of $5,500 by November 11, 2011, you won't be charged a dime (or get the awesome gifts) and we don't get ANY of the money we raised. So we've got to meet our goal in order to give you all the cool rewards we've got listed! And if we go over our goal amount of $5,500, better still! We really do need as much money as possible to record and market our new CD the way we really want to. It's hard to believe, but the goal we've set will barely be enough to get things done the right way. So we're hoping to meet, exceed and SHATTER our goal of $5,500!
