Skinny Dipping, through the eyes of its main character, Lorraine, uses humor, improv, script, a bit of cabaret and a lot of wigs to bring to life six intertwined women and explore what it means to strip down and be true to yourself. Although the show uses several styles of performance, its goal is simple: It wants to make you laugh and asks you to not be afraid of "what might happen, because what MIGHT happen is the best part."
This will be the second tour for Skinny Dipping. In 2009, I independently produced a four city tour that made stops in Kansas City, St. Louis, Chicago and New York. I learned a lot about myself while on tour. I learned I am capable of riding on a bus for 10 hours and then performing 3 shows while recovering from one of the worst colds I've had in years. I was delighted to discover that I excel at hauling 70lb suitcases full of props, complete with a broken zipper and wrapped in duct tape, through the subways of Manhattan during a blizzard. I was also pretty damn excited to learn how far I will go to get my art on the stage and in front of you, AND that I cannot wait to do it again...
Where is the money going?
Skinny Dipping will be making stops at the Minnesota, Indianapolis, Kansas City and Chicago Fringe Festivals. Each festival has their own Fee ranging from $425-$500. All four Festival Fees total $1,780. I will use the funds collected on this site to pay for the Kansas City Fringe Festival Fee of $430 and the small fee charged by Kickstarter.com. Any money collected above that goal (which would be amazing!) will be applied to the Chicago Fringe Festival Fee of $400. Both fees are due April 1st, hence the March 31st deadline!
