No, it’s eaten at room temperature. No need to keep it in the refrigerator, but I’ve tried it cold and it’s kind of fun.
It’s a crumbly texture. You snap off pieces to pop in your mouth. Once you do that it absorbs the moisture and melts into the sweet and creamy ice cream you’ve always loved.

It's probably best to eat it within 3 years for the optimal flavor. Technically it should last much much longer than that as long as the packaging stays intact.
So far I've been unable to produce a non-dairy version that holds up to my standards. Something about the fat content in the coconut milk base doesn't freeze-dry that well so the texture is off. I'll keep working at it.
Gastronomy is the art of cooking and eating good food. So apply that to the traditional “Astronaut Ice Cream” and you get Gastronaut Ice Cream.
Sorry but at this early stage in production, it's not certified Kosher. I'd like to explore this in the future though.
