Solve your own problem
BELO's the result of a collaboration between KnoGno, a tech and design co. in London and Rodell Design, a Lake District based product designer/developer.
Collaborating over distance we ended up becoming our own target audience. We have worked on trains, in cafes and across continents at times to bring BELO to the world. Creating BELO has been a fantastic journey. We love BELO and we hope you will too.
KnoGno (know-know) is 3 docs: John, Martin and Simon, all trained in science or maths and all from careers in some form of technology. They all also have a penchant for good design and with the ubiquitous role of the laptop in their and everyone's lives, they wanted to combine technology and design with this innovative product. Paving the way, Simon serendipitously met Will of Rodell Design in the Lake District and they decided to collaborate. Will is an excellent new, young industrial designer, he's a very original thinker and an excellent maker: industry professionals are amazed by his in-the-garage injection moulding! KnoGno with Rodell design formed the perfect collaboration, marrying a London startup with a Lake District designer, to produce and introduce BELO to the world.
Hold and Protect
BELO is a strong, protective case.
Slip your computer out and BELO assumes a wedge, giving you a comfortable, inclined typing surface.
Laptops used to be bad on the lap. No longer with BELO. Now, when using your computer on your knee or on a crossed leg, BELO's unique design conforms to the shape of your body. BELO forms an ergonomic interface between you and your computer, hugging and gripping your legs, insulating you from your computer, making laptop use more secure and comfortable.
BELO is a tough semi-rigid case. It's ABS-strong and water resistant where it needs to be to protect your machine. But don't be deceived by the beauty of the side wall bellows - BELO's sides are tough too.
Yet BELO is soft where it needs to be: it's malleable underneath to hug your legs when required. Plus BELO is lovely and soft inside to protect your beloved machine.
BELO's distinctive red straps are strong but they are interchangeable should you happen to take a bad day out on them.
We have designed BELO to fit machines similar to the ubiquitous 13" Macbook Pro (models from 2013 to current) and 13" MacBook Air (models from 2008 to current).
- BELO will fit any laptop of the same size: 327 x 229 x 20 mm (12.87 x 9.02 x 0.79 inch) or slightly smaller
- NOTE max 20mm / 0.79 inch thickness
Anything larger than this WILL NOT FIT. We hope to introduce more sizes once the initial launch of BELO has been successful. If you have a larger or much smaller laptop and would like a BELO please register your interest and the size or model of your laptop (length, width and height) by emailing us at email@example.com
Where you come in
Developing BELO has been a fantastic journey and we hope it is not over yet. We need investment to take this idea to the next stage: manufacture. Design is finalised and as you can see, prototyped and user tested. We have tooling and manufacturing quotes and we know how to get BELO made (Although there are still a few small challenges to overcome. See "Risks and Challenges" section). The only barrier is the cost and that's where you come in. If you like BELO and would like to own one of the first off the production line, then please pledge what you can. We will keep you up to date with how the final bits of development and the manufacturing process is getting on and at the end of it you will be one of the first to own BELO before it is available to the wider world. You will also have our (KnoGno and Rodell Design's) sincerest thanks for all your help.

Risks and challenges
Developing BELO has been a challenge but now we have a fantastic final prototype product that we hope you will love. There are however still some obstacles to overcome before BELO can be manufactured.
We have finalised the cost and method for tooling and production for all of the components of BELO bar one, the bellows itself. This is an extremely challenging component to produce in a cost effective way, but we are close to solving the problem. Manufacturing a fabric bellows is not hard but it is expensive due to the nature of the process. What we need to do is reduce this cost by adapting the process. We are at a final stage of experimental prototyping a polymer extrusion for this component and the results are very promising.
Once we have finalised this process we can then move on to commissioning tooling for the larger plastic components, producing first runs and samples of components and then start the full scale production.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
