About

How natural is natural when it comes to what we put on our skin? The very word makes us believe that natural = pure = good for us.

It can actually be utilised in a variety of ways in the cosmetic industry and actually means that only part of the ingredient(s) actually has to be naturally 'derived' in order to qualify to be labelled as such. This means that the bulk of a product could actually be lots of chemicals with a small percentage of ingredient(s) that have either come directly or in some case synthesized, from a natural source.

It could also be construed as you thinking that everything is all natural with no chemical or synthetic ingredients. Did you know that if a product is hydrous (contains water or liquid) under the EU regulations, it is not possible to sell without a chemical preservative being added. This therefore means no hydrous product could ever be labelled as All Natural in the sense of no chemicals.

There is a great call these days for natural and organic cosmetics and bath products but I feel there is a lack of transparency in the way they are marketed. Also, many companies use refined and filtered ingredients such as shea butter due to the unique scent it carries. My personal thought is that by refining these butters and other ingredients such as Argan oil we are stripping away beneficial properties and taking one step further away from what they are designed to do.

I am not against using certain chemicals as I would rather preserve the end product effectively against fungi and bacterial growth but I am meticulous about reading the scientific trials of an ingredient before I will allow it into my products. I only use the greenest and lowest in terms of sensitivity and toxicity and I am forever researching for newer more natural alternatives.

I aim to provide luxury products that are designed to pamper and work with you using ingredients that are carefully selected from all over the world and blended to perfection.

Risks and challenges

The main challenge to this project is and has been my health. It is unfortunate but I do have a chronic condition. I'm not here to moan about it but it does set me back when I have a flare up. However, this will not stop me and I will succeed!! I am passionate about this project and have been plugging away at it for over a year now. Should I have a flare up, I do what I have been doing. Rest, get well, get up and back to it!
