Teach Preschoolers Chess
Children Need Chess
Parents want to do everything possible to get their children ahead. Chess is a game that has been proven to be beneficial for people of all ages. Learning chess leads to increased test scores, stronger critical thinking skills, an ability to plan ahead, improved executive functions, and so much more.
When learning chess, the younger you start, the more beneficial it is. However, chess has rarely been accessible to children under the age of 7. For young children, Story Time Chess is like a set of training wheels for a bicycle. Parents can get their children ahead by experiencing the full potential and impact chess can have by introducing it to their children at the youngest ages possible.
Meet Story Time Chess
Story Time Chess is a board game that teaches chess to young children using silly stories, vibrant illustrations, custom chess pieces, a unique chess board, and an engaging card game. The stories and supporting materials communicate the rules of chess to children ages 3 and up in a way that makes learning chess simple and fun. Best of all, no chess experience is required for parents or children to learn.
Story Time Chess Includes
Beautifully Illustrated Storybook
Exercises For Each Piece
Each chess piece has its own story and exercises that explain how the piece moves in a fun, silly, memorable way.
Double Sided Chessboard
Our double sided chess board and custom chess pieces are made from high quality, child friendly materials and are regulation size for tournament play. Players can either use the story themed side with all of our characters, or the standard chess side for regular chess.
Custom Chess Pieces
With our custom chess pieces, the children are able to connect the stories to the pieces more easily. By visually seeing the characters and physically touching the pieces, children are able to learn chess without realizing it.
Each piece is designed to hold the character from their story in order to communicate the rules of chess effectively–and have fun!
Engaging Minigames That Reinforce Mechanics
We've developed over 30 minigames that teach children the rules of chess effectively, including a card game that encourages children to use every chess piece.

Why are stories perfect for teaching chess?
Stories are an incredibly powerful educational tool. Children have an astounding ability to retain stories down to the last detail. Telling a child an abstract rule may only confuse them because they have nothing to connect with. Instead of telling children what something is, Story Time Chess is perfect for showing the rules of chess – through stories.
Our stories draw children into a fantastical, fun world that allows them to figure out the mechanics of chess alongside a cast of amazing, iconic characters. By using Story Time Chess, children can answer their own questions or be open to the answer that is given because the story explains how this answer came about.
That’s why stories are the heart of Story Time Chess. Stories funnel all of the ‘why’ questions that children are so quick to ask into fun reasons behind the principles of basic chess strategy.
You Can Dress for Chess!
If you'd like a t-shirt, you can back at any level and add $25 to your pledge for each t-shirt you would like. After the campaign, we'll send out a survey requesting what type of shirt you would like (both character and size).

You Can Donate Story Time Chess To An Orphan In Armenia
We're proud to announce our partnership with the Armenian Relief Mission to provide chess sets to children in Armenia. A part of our goal is to share Story Time Chess and the benefits it has for not only our backers, but with those who are less fortunate.
The Armenian Relief Mission is an organization that works with orphans and those in need in Armenia. Through this Kickstarter campaign, we're giving backers an opportunity to share this game with Armenian children.
When you pledge for copies of Story Time Chess, you can donate any of those copies to the Armenian Relief Mission. It's the perfect opportunity to share the gift of chess with children that can really benefit from it.
Who's Behind Story Time Chess?
Story Time Chess was created by Chess at Three, an early education chess company that has taught chess to thousands of students across the country. Over the last twelve years, we have refined and distilled our stories through countless lessons to the point where we can offer them in a easy to digest format to families around the world.
Story Time Chess is illustrated by Ryan Terry, an award winning children's media expert, having directly worked on leading apps and projects over the last two decades.
We're working with Ryan to create an EXCLUSIVE reward to draw families in the Story Time Chess art style. It's the perfect opportunity for a family portrait drawn by a former Disney art director!
