The One Shot Compendium is made up of two parts.
First of which is an illustrated book that provides the GM with 30 one shot adventures that can be easily modified to fit into any campaign you currently have running. A PDF will be provided to backers who choose the tiers that provide a physical book.
Features of the book include.
- The adventures give you extra room for personal notes so you can add to - or modify - the adventure as you run it. The best part is that they are quick and easy to get started.
- All adventures are created to be as simple as possible so you can spend less time studying and more time playing.
- Adventures come with maps, NPCs and locations to use if you don't already have your own campaign setting.
- Book totals over 150 pages of content.
Second is the digital companion app. This app is meant for the players, and will assist them in a wide variety of ways. They will also be able to use it to keep track of all the adventures they have available to them. Once unlocked the players will be given a plot hook to get the adventure started. Each adventure will have a difficulty set to it based on the player’s current level. Gold and experience will also be provided as a reward, which of course is all adjustable by the GM.
The app will be free to download so anyone in the group can use it despite not backing the project.
The app currently is running on PC but will be released on to Android and iOS to give you the ability to use it on any device you currently have. Porting the app over to these devices will be simple, the only issue right now is the cost to do so which is part of the funding goal we already have set up.
Additional features of the app include.
- Storing player experience and data.
- Keeps track of players gold and food.
- Can be expanded to include future adventures.
Once you open up the app you'll have a few things you can do right away. Options is available to adjust settings such as volume. You can then start your adventure or continue a previous one.
Add Players Menu
The next page is pretty simple but allows you to choose how many players are currently playing in this session. You have the option to have all players share one app or have each person use their own.
Main Game Menu
This is the main overview of the world showing you where you are currently located by the red cursor. The menu bar up above gives you quick information about gold, rations and current players. The red buttons on the menu bar take you to different screens where you can further adjust all of it.
The bottom left is a day/night button, clicking this will cycle a full day and automatically take rations from the group depending on how many players are currently active. Other adjustable uses of the button will heal the players and even allow for random encounters to be auto rolled based on players location, if the GM wants to use this feature.
The bottom right is a simple options menu where you can save your game and exit if you are done playing.
There are more features we want to add to this section of the app but for now this is what's provided and any other features we have lined up will be announced in stretch goals.
Here players can adjust their currency will the provided buttons. If you only need a quick 100 or 500 gold that can be easily done allowing you to get back to the game. You also can add manual amounts of each currency type if you so wish as well. The default currency is Platinum, Gold and Silver. If you wish to use Copper and Electrum you can enable them in the options.
Here players can sort through different hooks and decide which available ones they want to accept. All hooks appear locked at first and can be unlocked and given to the players by the GM. Once a hook is selected it gives a quick overview of the hook and shows where in the world it's located at, represented by the red dot. Gold and experience for each hook can be adjusted by the GM to fit the players current level and will automatically rewarded to them once they complete the hook.
The art style for this section of the app is still being decided upon. For right now everything is test/placement icons and images. It's likely this menu will look and feel like the gold menu shown above.
Extra Optional Rewards
We are happy to provide these awesome metal dice as an added option to the reward tiers. They come in three styles and will ship shortly after payment conformation if the campaign is successful. We wanted to be able to provide extra rewards to our backers without just giving you guys senseless filler. Just like you, we absolutely love the idea of adding more dice to the collection. I mean you can never have too many right? Of course, if this is something you don't want then you can still back a tier without them!
Were are all very excited to see this kickstarter grow and can't wait to start unveiling stretch goals that are just around the corner. Keep posted and check our page updates regularly.
It's important to keep note of the current artwork. What's currently being used is stock imagery to take it's place. The same look and feel will be the goal and much of what you see here will still be used. We have artists who will be ready to fulfill the need of artwork once we get funding.
Risks and challenges
Production is simple, the product is little more than just a book and app, which is relatively easy for our team to create. Of course no project is immune to complications and we predict our biggest one to be if you exceed our expectations and blow our initial goal out of the water. Because of this we have decided to keep the product simple so we can make sure that everyone receives their copy when promised. Support us and we will deliver what you paid for.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
