Ethan McGrath is a student composer from Chattanooga, Tennessee. He showed little interest in music until his mother encouraged him to take up piano when he was nine years old. He became increasingly interested in music and soon found joy in writing it himself. At the piano, organ, and harpsichord, he has frequently accompanied choirs and vocalists, which has helped him gain the knowledge needed to write effectively for voices—a discipline to which he now devotes great energy.
