I am greatly inspired by the art song output of the great Romantics, especially Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms, as well as that of 20th century composers such as Ralph Vaughan Williams, Roger Quilter, Samuel Barber, and Leonard Bernstein. The love for art song that these composers have instilled in me finds expression in the songs I compose.
This recording project will consist of several of my art songs, most of them settings of poetry (which is also a source of inspiration for my music), including works by William Shakespeare, Christina Rossetti, and Emily Dickinson. Two friends of mine have agreed to lend their talents to the project: soprano Sarah Tullock, and tenor Justin Hipp. They both sing professionally, and have recently earned masters degrees in music from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where I am currently studying. For more on Sarah Tullock, visit www.sarahtullock.com.
We have already recorded some of the songs, but need your help to make the project a reality. There are several rewards available for contributions of various sizes, as detailed on this page.
