About

Stockholm Tabletop Game Expo 2019

First of its kind. Experience the joy of board games, miniature games, and role playing. See and support creators. Listen to experts.

11-12 May 2019
Solnahallen, Stockholm, Sweden

At Tabletop Game Expo, we combine a trade show, a flea market, and lots of activities for an ultimate tabletop experience.

At the trade show, game producers and stores will demonstrate and sell the newest, best tabletop games on the market.

At the flea market, a treasure hunter´s paradise, participants buy and sell second-hand games.

All around the expo, you'll find lots of activities such as gaming, tournaments, meet-ups, and miniature painting. For example, we will have a staffed game library with personnel ready to help group visitors together, find a good and suitable game (dependent on your experience and interests) and get you going.

In addition, a stage for interesting lectures, panels, and discussions will be set up.

The organizing team is a close-knit group of friends with a passion for tabletop games.

We worked together on Spelloppis 2018 (tabletop game flea market) and decided to meet the demand we saw and create something bigger and better: Tabletop Game Expo 2019.

We are board gamers, role players, miniature gamers, and card game players. Emma Rudstam leads us. She has experience in running big events (e.g., the last 3 Spelloppis Stockholm), and a passion for introducing tabletop games to beginners.

Together we want to show others the joy of tabletop games and help them find new friends to play with!

Discussions are ongoing with many more.

This is the first time we're running Tabletop Game Expo. Through this kickstarter, we want to create awareness and support for the creation of Tabletop Game Expo 2019 – and the years to come!

If we can reach the goal, we know there is enough interest to run this. We also limit our risk and have more of an idea about the budget that we can work with.

If interest is as big as we think, or bigger, we have an opportunity to grow Tabletop Game Expo into the biggest tabletop game event in northern Europe!

The very least we need from this kickstarter is SEK 160,000.

By reaching this goal, we feel that we have the support we need to run Tabletop Game Expo 2019.

Our first stretch goal of SEK 175,000 will go to improving the atmosphere. The venue consists of two big halls. More fabric on the walls and fair flooring will improve sight and sound factors to enhance visitors’ visual and auditory experiences.

Regardless of whether you only wish to support our case and cannot commit to coming (Pion) or you’re a Grand Master . . .

Thank you!

All tickets are discounted if you get them through pledges to this kickstarter. For regular prices, see tabletopgameexpo.com.

Each person can only make one pledge of each type. To let you bring your kids through the kickstarter pledges we have made the following solution. If you add a multiple of the pledge when you choose how much to pledge, you get extras for your kids. E.g. Apprentice regular is 120kr, with one kid = 240kr, with 2 kids 360kr etc. This is not applicable for growups (each grownup can make their own pledge). The kid must enter the event with the parent (will probably be on the same ticket). Kids up to the age of 6 come in for free.

Peddler and Crafter Tickets allow you to sell on site. To do this, you must follow our rules, which can be found here.

Creators Alley if meant for both artists and game creators who are not big enough (or don't want to) to get a stand in the trade show. Each person in Creators Alley needs an entry ticket, the crafter pledge includes one entry ticket.

Help us create something great!

Make a pledge and join us 11-12 May 2019 at Solnahallen!

Risks and challenges

As with any convention we face the risks of:
-Not enough volunteers or volunteers who don’t do their jobs.
-Vendors quitting close to event.
-Collaborators quitting close to event.
-Problems with crowd control.
-Tickets not getting sold.

Volunteers are already flocking. The volunteers who have already signed up are friends of the organizing team, they are good people, trustworthy. We anticipate no problem finding plenty of good people to help volonteer at the event.

Vendors all sign contracts to come. We will run a great event. It is in their best interest to come.

Collaborators, such as clubs around Stockholm, lose credibility if they do not show. It is also in their best interest to come. We mitigate the potential consequences of collaborators not showing by having backup plans.

From our experiences with previous events, we're confident we can handle crowds. We also work with a security company, and they'll help us plan and handle crowd control.

The only risk we are worried about is selling tickets. This is why we are running this Kickstarter. We will be able to see the interest through the pledges.
