A documentary showing Boise State University students attempting to build the world's fastest vegetable oil powered vehicle.
Greenspeed the documentary will focus on the clubs inception in 2010 to its race attempt to become the world's fastest vegetable oil powered vehicle at Bonneville Speed Week 2012. See what it takes to build a race vehicle with no budget and only determination. A percentage of the proceeds from DVD sales and digital downloads will go to Greenspeed.
This 45 minute documentary can be used as a tool for educators in the classroom and inspire students to challenge themselves and make a difference.
In 2011 members of the Boise State University student club, Greenspeed, built a vegetable oil powered vehicle with the intent of breaking a speed record.
With a lot of determination and hard work, the Greenspeed club impressively broke that record that same year at over 155 mph at El Mirage in California.
Attempting to break the existing 215 mph record for petroleum fueled trucks in their division at Bonneville Speed Week 2012 in Utah would prove to be their biggest challenge.
Pioneering a new category of motorsports comes with many trials and tribulations and we will look back on the team’s path from its inception to race day.
Blown motors, sleepless nights, months of fundraising for one goal, ALL to raise awareness for an alternate fuel. The perseverance and can- do attitude of this group is infectious and we see the American spirit of risk- taking and innovation.
Once completed the 45 minute documentary will act as a learning tool for schools and universities as to what a student run organization can accomplish. This documentary will show students that you can apply what is taught in the classroom to a real world application.
Greenspeed the documentary needs funding for editing, scripting voiceover, DVD's and aggregator services. With over 3 years of footage shot by students and professional videographers, countless hours will be spent in the edit room crafting a story that will not only inspire but enlighten students and the general public.
