About this project
After recording my last album, Finds You In Love, I decided to take a little break from making music. Guitar had been my main instrument since the age of 14, and frankly, I was bored with it. In November of 2009 my husband moved a piano into our house for some recording projects he was working on. The day it arrived I sat down and played, and almost immediately the songs started pouring out. It was seamless, as if it had been a part of me all along, and one year later I had an album's worth of material written and ready to record.
In the fall of 2010 I was ready to share my new stuff with some people. I recorded the songs live on my iPhone and sent them to Blake Wescott (The Posies, David Bazan, Rosie Thomas, Damien Jurado), a close friend and former producer of mine. Blake loved what he heard and immediately expressed interest in producing the record. A few months later Blake's longtime friend and collaborator Steven Aguilar (The Head And The Heart, Dave Matthews Band, David Bazan, Rosie Thomas, Ivan & Alyosha, Damien Jurado) came on board. Due to busy schedules, various tours, and a brand new marriage, the idea was put on hold for a year. Now here we are...making this album. And I couldn't be more excited!
The recording schedule has been set, studio time has been booked, and I have saved up $6,000, half of the money it will take to make this album. I am asking for your help with the other half. This may seem like a lot of dough, and make no mistake...it is! You'd be surprised how quickly a recording budget gets eaten up though. Studio time is expensive, and I'm committed to paying all of the producers, musicians, and artists involved with this project. The budget includes everything from pre-production to mastering and album artwork.
I can't wait to share this music with you.
Thank you so much for your support!!!
As stated in the video, this album is going to cost $12,000 to make. Anything over the $6,000 goal will help with the remaining budget, including fulfilling rewards and Kickstarter fees. There has also been talk of pressing vinyl.
