About this project
The new box art
As we've mentioned in the previous update we wanted to take another look at the box art, and come up with a new art, something that we'll capture the spirit of the game, but also capture the spirit of this campaign and the community that we built here. The result? A masterpiece by The Mico!
Cavern Tavern is a worker (dice) placement and resource management board game that is set in a fantasy world. Each player assumes the role of a worker in the tavern. Your job is to serve drinks, work in the kitchen, do chores, and on top of that try to keep every guest happy, including the nasty and greedy barkeep. Here's a glimpse of the story behind it.
The basic set includes 21 custom made dice with Dwarven inspired design. These dice are for Kickstarter backers only and will not be available in retail. However, they will be available in limited supply at conventions, through contests, online at the BGG promo store, and directly from our website. The dice will be silk screened. If we reach the 50k Stretch Goal, we'll upgrade the dice to laser engraved.
Cavern Tavern uses worker (dice) placement and resource management mechanics.
Every player has 4 dice that represents his available actions. On each turn, a player can assign his dice to 1 of the 21 locations in the tavern. These locations require different amount of dice value and each location holds a different reward. The players can choose to place 1 die on a location, combine them in groups to receive bigger rewards, or discard them to receive benefits that will help them advance in the game. So when the player rolls his 4 dice, he has a lot of options where to put them and how to use them, thus forming a strategy and reducing the luck factor to minimum.
The locations are divided into 6 sections:
1. Main area: Players pick up Orders from guests in this section.
2. Cellar: The ingredients used to complete orders are located in this section.
3. Kitchen: Players can work in this section to receive rewards.
4. Chores: Players can complete chores in this section to receive rewards.
5. Wizard’s Workshop: Players can seek help for completing their Orders in this section.
6. Nasty the Dwarf’s Office: Players can suck up to the boss and badmouth coworkers in this section.
During the game, players need to complete their Orders as soon as possible. For each round an Order is late, the Order’s point value decreases.
Late Orders also affect the player’s reputation with the barkeep, Nasty the Dwarf, which can have dire consequences.
Your experience in managing in the Kitchen and doing Chores in the Tavern will be noted as well which can also influence your game advancement.
Throughout the game the players can pick up Items that are left by the Tavern's patrons. These Items are located all over the Tavern and the players can benefit through their clever usage.
Before the game starts, the players will receive a Secret Task from Nasty which will grant them bonus Victory Points at the end of the game for meeting his conditions.
But also there are cards that will make the players' jobs in the Tavern more difficult and they are called Nasty the Dwarf Says cards. By drawing one of these cards the player must fulfill a mandatory task given by Nasty the Dwarf.
Here's a great walkthrough video made by the folks of Tantrum House.
Also, you can check out the video of the rulebook with detailed specifics of the game.
Coming soon. German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Serbian and Macedonian translations of the rulebook and the cards. These documents will not be printed and included in the physical copy, however they will be available for everyone to download at our website finalfrontiergames.com
About the mini expansion
With the ongoing war in the Five Realms, a lot of shady meetings are taking place at Cavern Tavern right now. Some of the customers don't want to conduct their business in the Main Area of the tavern, and they want a more private place. Here comes Mrs. Nasty to save the day and join Cavern Tavern! She'll be running the Secret Chamber and you just received another boss. But, don't be shaking in your boots yet. Nasty is the only one that is afraid right now, because she can sure keep him on a tight leash. She'll be giving you new opportunities to earn your paycheck, help you when you are in trouble with Nasty and give you a hand in fulfilling your orders and tasks!

We think we got a great BGG social stretch goal that will go nice with the theme. If we reach 100 fans of Cavern Tavern on BGG and 100 thumbs up on this picture, we'll upgrade the first player token to a wooden custom piece. We are giving you the keys to the tavern. :)
UPDATE: The BoardGameGeek social goal is unlocked!
We are aware that there is always a risk when backing a new publisher, especially a first time creator. Getting this game in your hands and in perfect condition is not just fulfilling a project to us. It’s fulfilling our dream. So you can rest assured that in the next months this project will be our main focus.
We have spent the past 2 years preparing for this moment because we believe in this project. We published 2 board games in our local market just to get our feet into the industry and learn everything we could. We’ve built a company and gathered experience and fundsso we can invest everything we have in Cavern Tavern.
As you can see, we have invested in professional artwork, video, campaign consultation, and marketing. As first time creators, we’re putting our money where our mouth is to show you that we strongly believe in this project.
But, we've come to the moment where we need your help to make Cavern Tavern a reality. We appreciate every single person that is willing to help this campaign succeed and that's why we’re providing these incentives:
DISCOUNT - 18% discount off the game (MSRP $55)
SUBSIDIZED SHIPPING - $6 of the shipping cost subsidized for every backer.
KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE CONTENT – customized dice not available in retail
Here at Final Frontier Games we like to give the retailers an opportunity to stock our game through Kickstarter so they can get all the exclusive content as well.

Risks and challenges
First, we want to recognize that there is always a risk when backing a new publisher, especially a first time creator.
You can rest assured that we will handle everything with the highest level of professionalism. From our previous projects for the local market in Macedonia, we have experience printing board games and delivering them to our customers. Also, our artist The Mico has worked on over 20 board games for publishers around the world.
Long before we pushed the launch button on Kickstarter, we made sure that every single detail had been addressed twice. In terms of worldwide shipping and fulfillment, we have done extensive research to reduce our knowledge gap. We’ve contacted many successful publishers, had multiple discussions in groups devoted to publishing and Kickstarter, and read every single article about the subject from industry professionals like James Mathe and Jamey Stegmaier. Also we have a lot of board game publishers and experienced people in crowdfunding and fulfillment on our side, like Tantrum House, providing assistance and making sure every detail is covered. We are also members of the Indie Game Alliance - a collective of independent tabletop game developers that have joined together to promote the latest and greatest indie games and help out each other.
We’ve had extensive discussions with our manufacturing and fulfillment companies and they are ready to produce and deliver the game when the time comes.
We are aware that there are some factors that are outside of our control, things that can delay the project, like labor strikes, Chinese holidays etc, but we have given ourselves extra time to deliver the project in case of unforeseen issues.
Having said that, we'll be transparent with you for every issue that might occur and how we are resolving them. That, we can promise!
