INCLUSION: Table Tennis meets Racquetball Read more

About this project
INCLUSION combines Table Tennis and Racquetball to create a newly dynamic, fast-paced playing experience. The revolutionary side walls extend the playing surface to an added dimension, which allows expert players to create a greater variety of angled shots and a more challenging, intensified, gaming experience. The side walls also function as "bumpers" for novice players to help enhance their skills.
Have you ever played Table Tennis in a room that was too small? So have we. In fact, INCLUSION was born from this very predicament…
Two high school friends were playing Table Tennis in a small basement. The goal: To keep the rally going as long as possible. The solution: Use the walls. They played the game according to these new rules for weeks until they realized: Why not fuse the walls to the table and forever change the game? And thus, INCLUSION was in its nascent stage.
Fast forward several years, hundreds of phone calls and thousands of man hours, INCLUSION grew from an idea, to a product concept, to what it is today: Ready for its introduction to the world.
First INCLUSION Tournament
1) Side Wall Attachments
Our patent-pending Plexiglas side walls are both practical and aesthetic. Each length of the table features two side walls, which are 3' wide, and stand 2’6’’ tall from a 6" radius curve (as shown in the photos below).
Each wall is supported by three adjustable, telescoping legs that allow the attachments to perfectly correspond to any table at any height. The adjacent side walls connect seamlessly to form one continuous side wall.
The surrounding white strip clearly articulates the boundary of the vertical playing surface. The INCLUSION logo is featured at the center of each Plexiglas wall to provide players with a reference point which can be targeted throughout the game to achieve varying angled shots. This marker is particularly useful for expert players who possess the skill and agility to strategically calculate the bounce and angle of their chosen shots.
This prototype is designed to fit with most existing tables with detachable nets. Simply remove the existing net and add the INCLUSION net prior to assembly.
Once you receive our product, you will be able to go from package to play in under 10 minutes!
2) Full Table + Side Wall Attachments
For those of you without existing tables, you are in luck! In addition to the above-listed side walls, we plan to offer full tables that come pre-assembled. They will be easy and fast to set up!
The official INCLUSION rules are very similar to those of table tennis:
1. Games to 11
2. Win by 2+
3. Serves alternate every 2 points
4. On serves, the ball must bounce on the server's horizontal side and the returner's horizontal side, unless the ball is returned with a volley, which is legal
5. Serves are permitted off the side walls
6. Maximum of 2 bounces allowed on the horizontal surface
7. Points are scored by hitting your opponent's horizontal playing surface or by having your opponent hit the ball out of play
Although we are very happy with our prototype, our prototyping company does not have the capacity to manufacture orders in large quantity. We are working with a sourcing and product development company based in NYC and shopping the project to manufacturing companies both foreign and domestic. We have received estimates from these companies and we are confident that we can deliver based on the prices listed in the rewards section.
Risks and challenges
INCLUSION was born as a big idea, and yet it was a small fish in a big pond.
To make the leap from concept to product, INCLUSION needed a team that would take a chance on a vision. The first attempts at team-building were demoralizing: After a string of "No thank you"s and "Come back when you can afford me"s, it was tempting to throw in the towel, but the idea proved bigger than the disappointments. With time and perseverance, INCLUSION found its true believers who would work tirelessly to make this vision a reality.
Looking forward, we anticipate the challenge of expanding our team to meet the needs of this campaign. We have vetted many potential partners to join our journey and we are dedicated to bringing INCLUSION to you.
We are relying heavily on the guidance from our sourcing and product development partner. They are experts in manufacturing and shipping for companies large and small. Their industrial design team has created a drawing package that details each part and assembly to perfectly replicate my prototype. They have teams that check quality control before, during and after manufacturing. We have seen their work with products larger and smaller than INCLUSION and we are confident that your pledges will help manufacture a quality, affordable product available to everyone wishing to experience this new and exciting game.
We won't stop working until you are satisfied with our product. Thank you for taking the time to read this. We are excited to share this incredible game with you. It is exciting, fast-paced and challenging. Once you try INCLUSION, we know you will love it. ARE U IN?
