About this project
We've Come to Play, came to fruition after artistic director and choreographer, Sara Herrera, said "Enough is enough! Let's do this!" As ArasDance enters their second year as a DC based dance company, we are extremely pumped for this exciting chapter in being one of the selected performance groups in the Capital Fringe Festival. As the show nears, ArasDance's funds have come to a screeching halt. Like every great racer or endurance athlete out there knows you can't do it without a strong support system and we need your help to get us to the finish line.
We currently have 12 pieces being showcased on the Atlas-Lang Theatre in Washington, DC. The pieces vary from such themes as procrastination, family feuds, post baby body issues, ghost encounter, and the pure joy of dancing in your favorite dress, to name a few. ArasDancers have been working tirelessly, as most do, when faced with such a grand opportunity as participating in the Capital Fringe festival.
As the choreographer and artistic director of ArasDance, I want the audience to really feel they are a part of the story. Perhaps there is a connection with each story the can relate to. Everything we put on stage comes from the heart and it's honest, playful, and celebrates life.
We hope you can catch our show, We've Come to Play!

Risks and challenges
We have survived on a shoestring (or spaghetti noodle) budget, in-kind donations of time and facilities and a dedication from my dancers. We don't see obstacles, we see creative challenges and have continued to increase our profile and portfolio. Getting financial assistance from the community will help us improve the robust showmanship that audiences expect (and demand) in larger venues--from lighting to stage management to audio/visual. We have survived without these til now but we know we need to take it to the next level and we know with your support there is no stopping this little rocket ship of talent and dreams we call ArasDance.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
