Here it is. After two years of blood, sweat, and happy tears, Drones is now being collected into one massively satirical volume.
This five-issue miniseries follows two Predator drone operators who hunt Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan from the safety of a base outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. After a failed mission, the war hits home in a bizarre journey that will take them from a terrorism-themed hotel to a drone-filled sky over the Strip. As part of a stage show you’ve just got to see to believe, Las Vegas starts to resemble Afghanistan, and the drone operators must confront the absurd nature of a war where terror and entertainment have begun to blur.
In addition to our two drone operators, we have a pancake-loving terrorist turned playwright, a loveable expert in improvised explosive devices, five well dressed assassins, a goat who just might know a thing or two about kung fu, an acrobatic special forces troupe called the Cirque du SEALs, surveillance up the wazoo, and a new kind of poppy that’s going to blow some minds.
Drones is 110 pages of madcap action, topped off with some stunning pinups by the following artists:
But enough with the talking. You can read the first four issues HERE!
As you can see, Drones is completely FINISHED! We’ve self-published the first three issues and received some wonderful feedback at conventions and via digital distribution, but at this point we are looking for help to fund the collected edition. As a big THANK YOU, we’re offering some great rewards to all you backers who help make this possible.
We've got two Kickstarter exclusive covers, featuring the awesomeness that is Ramon Villalobos and Brent McKee (with Mike Spicer). We’re only going to print enough of these bad boys to satisfy your early bird cravings, so git ‘er done while you still can!
Cabral, the colorist of Drones, has got the goods, and five lucky backers are going to be able to receive one of his lovely commissions. Each piece will be a one-of-a-kind, 11.6” x 16.3” pencil and ink drawing of a character of your choosing.
We’ve got original art from the book.
Drool-inducing commissions by series artist Bruno Oliveira.
As well as the one-of-a-kind original cover art for the tpb!
One last thing - Sometimes it feels like we’re creating at 10,000 feet. The air is pretty thin up there, it's darn cold, and there aren't too many people to talk to. It might even be a little lonely at times. But the amazing support we’ve received from family, fans and fellow creators has been absolutely stunning, and we realize that we’re on to something special. We couldn’t have gotten this far without you!! THANK THANK THANK YOU ALL!!
Risks and challenges
Okay, so I guess there is one more one last thing (way to ruin our dramatic sendoff, Kickstarter!), but we’ll keep this brief. Since the book is done, the only challenge is getting the rewards shipped out. We’re all pretty well adjusted guys (which might not be apparent from the subject material) and we’re pretty sure we can handle this. The printer is ready, the shipping costs have been calculated, and the envelopes have been purchased. We might have to invest in a stamp-licker, but everything is ready on our end. The rest is up to you!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
