Warning : This comic is meant for a mature audience. There are scenes of violence, gore, some adult themes and language.
The year is 2134. It has been exactly a hundred years since society as we know it disappeared. Cities were brought to the ground in days, governments in weeks, and entire countries in mere months. Two thirds of the population had died off before the years end. This is what is written in the history books as "The Great Purge".
Over the years, the worlds governing forces have been genetically superior humans (Newgens), who have inherited abilities which they in turn used to take complete control. 50 years ago, a group formed known only as The SeVeN. Six Newgens and one very rich and powerful human. They make the decisions now. They choose who lives, who dies and who prospers.
The rich get richer, the powerful gain more and more power each day, and those less fortunate work, slaving away, just to feed their families. Thus formed The Resistance, everyone from farmers to miners have taken up arms to try and take back what is theirs. They rely heavily on the Newgens who have turned away from the herd, and agree there must be peaceful resolve to the war. Psychosis and his group of troubled powerhouses are the main group trying to fight back. They recruit, fight, disrupt and cause as much mayhem for The SeVeN as they can.
It is not being done for fun, it is being done to try and save the human race. It is being done to save each person from the same fate as those poor souls from 100 years ago.
Character Bio :
Victor Stevens/Psychosis - Victor is our main character and has two completely different outlooks on life. As Victor he is kind, quite, shy and very much reserved. He has trouble with large groups and hates getting attention from people. Then he puts the mask on, and Psychosis takes over.
Psychosis is cold, calculated, and looking to take the fight to you. He tries to make sure that innocents are not hurt but if they are in the way of his mission, he will forcibly remove them. Psychosis loves death, whenever it is not pointed at him, or anyone close to him. There aren't many who he would consider close to him.
Psychosis is a project that has been several years in the making. Finding the right artist, creating the right emotion, 6 script re-writes and finally we have what we feel comfortable with. I am proud to say that David and I have created a new comic experience. We hope another hero to follow.
What makes your comic different then most others?
Our hero is a killer. Purely for both fun and revenge. He just enjoys what he does. Well half of him anyway. Our character also lives with a severe mental disorder which will take a lot of control of future issues. Not going to spoil anything right now.
If you have questions feel free to ask in the comments, I am always willing to answer as long as it won't spoil the story or future stories.
What is the money for?
We are raising the funds mainly to cover the cost of printing our comic, t-shirts and buttons. We are not in it to make money from this comic at this point. We just want our work out there for people to enjoy.
Why not approach a publishing company?
That is a great route, but we do have a lot planned and want to keep 100% creative control of our characters. We want to know we can add or subtract what we need/want.
Comic dimensions and size.
The comic is going to be fully black and white which adds to the down and dirty feeling of our atmosphere. We will have 20 pages in our comic, depending on if we reach flex goals we may add 4 pages of the intro you see below.
Finally the book is standard comic dimension, 6.25" x10.5", which will also be the print size for the backers!
We decided that we wanted artists from around the world to have a chance at showcasing a bit of their works. In this, we held a cover contest to allow people compete against one another, in a vote based competition, which delivered us these three final covers.
Each cover is available for purchase, and please make sure to let us know what you want with your order.
He was our first winner, and I felt he showed the real emotion of the character and the story.
Matty was our second round winner, bringing in a fun and almost sadistic look into our hero!
Our third round winner is Christian. He did an amazing job showing the violent nature of the comic.
Here is a little short intro to the world our comic belongs in. This happened 100 years before the start of our first issue, but it gives you a small look at our writing, art and the style of the comic.
Last, but definitely not least, is our three AMAZING limited prints! Lets add some colour to this palette!

Reviews (Good and Bad) :
Psychosis is a refreshing and original story that readers are sure to enjoy. - Josh Gillam (http://www.drunkoncomics.com/psychosis-1-review/)
Coates has done an excellent work with the action sequences and portraying the dark and violent world. The storytelling is crisp and it will be interesting to see how Atkinson expands on the initial issue. - (http://sigmatestudio.com/2014/10/psychosis-by-adam-atkinson-and-david-coates/)
I think that a simple splash page at the beggining of the book would really have served this issue well to give us a bigger picture perspective on the world of Psychosis. / Psychosis #1 sets up this franchise for what looks to be a really solid run. / ...the writing in this issue is great. - Phil Buck (http://www.nerdbinge.com/psychosis-1-indie-comic-book-review/)
