Strange Thing is Online!

Hello Kickstarter Backers!

It's been a long time since my last post (over a year!) but Strange Thing is finally online, watch it now at the link below!

Please give it a watch, give it a like and post it onto all of your social media, your twitter, Facebook, whatever you got!

The film played over 16 film festivals world wide, one a few awards and has been seen by hundreds of people, hopefully now, with your help, it will be seen by thousands!

Also, if you haven't already, find us at and give the film a like!

Thanks so much for all your support, it's been an amazing journey and now the film is out there for the world to see!

Strange Thing Complete!

Hello Backers!

So the film is now 100% complete and making the rounds in the world of film festivals. I am aiming high so I've only submitted to Sundance and SXSW so far but I will be expanding to more festivals shortly. I'm aiming for top tier festivals so if any of you have any suggestions for awesome high level festivals to submit to, I'd love them!

I know not everyone has gotten all their incentives yet, DVD's will be going out this week and the lower end items will be going out as well. My deepest apologies for the delay but they'll get to you, I promise!

As for the digital downloads, I am trying to think of the best way to do that in the simplest way possible, it may be a vimeo link I put up for a week for you all to use to download the film with or perhaps it will be a dropbox link for a short period of time, I'm not entirely certain yet.

Things are moving forward on the feature which I will keep you all posted on and thanks so much again for all of your support!

Have a wonderful day and sorry again for all the incentive delays!

Strange Thing is ALMOST Complete!

Good Morning Kickbackers!

I just wanted to give you all an update on the status of the film which is....we are almost done! We are racing to get everything finalized by mid September so we can be considered for the Sundance Film Festival! I hear they have an awesome midnight program for science fiction/horror and other genre films and I think we have a good shot of being included in that program.

Also since my last update we have gotten the final Strange Thing Posters in, check out the picture below. It is a little different then the last mockup but I think in the end we've got something completely kick ass. The title now matches the motion title that is being used in the short.

For all of you waiting for your incentives, I held off on sending them to make sure that I had all the incentives together before I shipped anything, so if you have a T-shirt or poster coming your way and you aren't waiting for a DVD as well, you should be getting a package in the next couple of weeks. If you have a DVD as well, I am going to wait and ship everything at once, so just hang in there a little longer!

The final steps are in motion and it is all thanks to your support, so thank you, thank you, thank you all!

Have a wonderful weekend!

T-Shirts are done, Posters coming and Picture Lock!

Hello Loyal Kickbackers!

Sorry for the long silence, the last six months have been jam packed with post production, incentive production and just overall butt kicking action. But don't you worry, Strange Thing is alive and well and almost ready to be seen by the world!

I'm proud to announce that the t-shirts are done and will be shipping out next week, check out the picture below and you can imagine what wearing your very own will be like.

I'm also working out the very final details of the movie poster, I've attached an image of the rough design so you can get an idea of what we are going for.

As for the actual film, last week we have finally reached picture lock! Minus a few more effect shots that need to be spliced in and the final color correction, all the visual aspects of the film are done! It is a very exciting time indeed, here is a breakdown of what we have done and what we still have left on our list.

Finish the Edit - Done!

I've done my job of cutting the film down, lining everything up and creating the film to match my original vision. The painful job of cutting down my precious baby to the perfect length is done, now its all about adding in the final elements to tie it all together.

Record Final Score - Done!

After many meetings, practice sessions and our final recording session at Megasonic Sound, the score is done and in the hands of our sound designer Colin Guthrie, very exciting indeed! Many many thanks to Blind Willies for making this score happen, it truly sounds incredible.

Record ADR - Done!

I went to LA a couple of months ago and spent a few hours with my wonderful cast to get a couple of missing sounds and lines for the final edit. We used the facilities over at Marc Graue Voice Over Studio in Burbank, it was a fun few hours and vital to the perfection of the film.

Visual Effects - 90% Done!

Alan Cecil has been hard at work at the visual effects since November and we are very very close to having all 24 + shots finalized. It's been a long road but the shots look great and it's just about time to do the final exports!

Titles and End Credits - In Progress!

I've enlisted the help of a local motion graphic artist and graphic designer Cosmo Ray to create the titles and end credit roll for Strange Thing. He is currently finalizing the title design which he will animate for the final film.

Sound Design - In Progress!

I'm waiting to hear the first pass of the sound design, I should have my ears on it next week with the final sound mix done in the next month or so.

Color Correction - In Progress!

I've got my first meeting with my colorist Jeffrey Schwinghammer tonight, I can't wait to sit and craft the look of the film with him, our DP Jason Joseffer and Gaffer Matt Stouppe. I originally had other plans for color correction, but Jeff was very insistent that he be the one to color Strange Thing and when he showed me some of his work, there was no way I could turn him down.

Wrap Party/Cast and Crew Screening - TBA

Over the next few weeks I am going to finalize the venue and date for the cast and crew screening. All of you who have tickets coming your way will be notified as soon as we have the date finalized, and of course for all of you who would still like to attend I will be selling tickets to cover the cost with all money left over going to post production costs. Stay tuned to this page for an update in the next couple weeks!

That's about it for now, a million thanks to you all for your contributions, without your support Strange Thing would not have been possible. You've each helped make my filmmaking dreams come true and I can't wait to share this film with you and the world.

Happy Friday and long live Independent Film!
