About this project
Perdition's Mouth: Abyssal Rift is a co-operative dungeon crawl board game with great story, fresh game design with clever and elegant mechanisms emphasizing strategy when trying to beat the game’s devious AI. The core game of Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift was successfully funded in our previous Kickstarter 2015 and has been delivered to players worldwide.
The Traitor Guard expansion brings a new playable hero and two alternative scenarios to Perdition’s Mouth. The scenarios can be played as one offs or as part of the Abyssal Rift campaign. Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift is required to use the Traitor Guard expansion. The new Hero, Brother Örn, is a fallen guard who has been accused of being a traitor by his compatriots. Trustworthy? No way! But having a common enemy makes for a good motive for cooperation, especially if one is in dire trouble.
This expansion also brings added variety with more cardboard markers, additional treasures, and extra wounds & victim cards, it also contains reprinted fixes of four misprinted Hero cards from the original print run. PM:TG does not come with a box of its own, as it’s intended to fit into the original PM:AR box. Hence it is lighter and so the shipping cost will be less.
Now is your chance to don the cultists’ cloak!
You can follow us on social networks and unlock additional content! Help us get more and more people involved in this campaign; the more followers and fans we get, the greater the rewards.
To minimize costs for our backers and having learned from our past experiences, we have chosen to print in EU and ship all orders from the EU. Orders that contain the base game will be shipped in two parcels, the base game from US/AUS/EU and the expansion from EU.
Unlike the expansion, the base game is really heavy (roughly 5 kg), so the shipping expenses for this are substantial. These will all taken into account in pledge levels. Kickstarter knows the postal costs and will automatically add these to your pledge.
We're excited to make available some add-ons that will be available for purchase after this campaign (in BackerKit), but we have learned our lesson and have limited these substantially as compared to the original PM:AR campaign:
- Wound Promo Deck – A pack of nine extra-brutal wound cards designed by our awesome backers and fans to supplement the existing wound deck. Details in update #26 and its origins in this thread. – $6
- Portcullises and Levers – includes three lever miniatures and three portcullis miniatures, which will replace the cardboard tokens in the base game. – $15
- And naturally we'll offer all of our digital content
NOTE: Shipping for all add-ons is included for EU, US & Australia destinations. Anywhere else, please add $2 per physical add-on. Add-ons are only available with a reward tier Guard and higher.
One of the most important advantages of a crowd-funding is the fact that it keeps us in touch with you, the players. You are the main reason why we make quality games - we want you to have fun! We’ve seen that PM:AR has been well received and we’d like to bring more content for you as well as preparing for upcoming major expansion.
We are an international team of game enthusiastics and our numbers are growing so we’ve chosen to put the team presentation on our website, instead. We are always open for new members so please contact us if you’re interested!
Perdition’s Mouth is a passion project for us, and as such we have set our base funding goal at the lowest possible amount we need to get this expansion made. The content design is done already, as is almost all of the art and modelling, and our team is working hard to finish polishing it to a high shine.
It's essential to notice that due to absurdly high production costs of the molds, we cannot produce plastic miniature for the Brother Örn. Resin miniatures are done by a different vendor than for PM:AR and will be packed in protective individual plastic shield.
Yes, we are using BackerKit, again, for gathering survey data after project funding period. It will make our and your life easier.
Risks and challenges
While nothing in life is without risk, this is neither our first game nor our first Kickstarter campaign, and we are confident in our ability to do a good job. Because you’re interested in this expansion, you already know that we successfully completed the Perdition’s Mouth: Abyssal Rift campaign, that ended in Dec 2015, in relatively timely fashion in Q1/2017, despite some rather nasty packing errors in production line.
We are committed to making sure that all of our backers receive their copies before the game reaches retail stores, and we have Essen Spiel 2017 firmly in our mind as the deadline for availability. For breathing room, we’ve added two extra months to the production schedule to handle any unexpected delays, so there is even a reasonable chance deliveries will be earlier than listed. But we’d rather play it safe to avoid disappointment.
We are also aiming for total transparency during the production process. We intend to provide regular updates throughout the production process on tasks as they progress, including any delays or roadblocks that might come up.
Our team has also earned a positive reputation for being responsive on BGG and Kickstarter, and we will continue doing exactly that.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
