When faced with being unable to continue to provide our customers and team with a quality location and experience last summer, we found ourselves looking for a new home. We found the location of our dreams, which were quickly rained on when a small fire upstairs caused a whole lot of water damage. It has been a long road to finally get to where we are now. We have our building permit and are poised to move full steam ahead.
Our new location was a spa prior to its purchase. To change the use from spa to cafe requires an extensive bit of rejigging of the sprinklers and ductwork/ventilation. These come at a hefty price tag (30K+). To ensure we can get back to serving our gaming family and community as fast as possible, we have come up with an offer of perks in exchange for any monetary help you can provide.
We are so excited about 98 Prince William. The cafe will be nestled in one of the hottest business districts in a stunning heritage building, with some pretty awesome business neighbours. We've also recently uncovered the original brick wall! It is in amazing shape and will be the perfect nod to the stately printing press the location once housed.
We are keeping our goal lower than the amount we need because.....well, something is better than nothing for all concerned! We would really like to reward you! We'll also be offering some pretty rad stretch goal bonuses. The more we make though, the faster we'll get up and running.
The bottom line is that it's been excruciating not being able to be a part of the community for over a half a year now. We receive calls and messages constantly from so many supporters. It has been overwhelming and so encouraging.
We have big plans for our new location. We will continue to be extremely community-minded and are excited to see what we can accomplish. We will be eventually establishing a scholarship fund. Each year we will have a game design competition and the winner(s) will be awarded a scholarship and help in producing a Kickstarter if they so wish. We will also continue to support Romero House with our game donation program, donating non-perishables in turn. We will be rolling out a healthy lunch option for high schoolers in the area at student prices AND a lunch league. Every day of the week will have its own lunch league, quick-play game with its own leader board. Perfect for students, professionals working in the Uptown area or anyone who happens to have the time. Sign up to be your day of the week's victor!
We want to get our family back together and get those doors open and get those games on those tables.
Let's do this!
