Update: All Kickstarter packages will be delivered in March instead of April! (exact date TBD). If you ordered the Vinyl, the CD and other merch will be delivered in March, the vinyl will still be in April because of the turn around time for pressing.
Hey everyone, welcome to our Kickstarter!
Some of you might already know us, for our new friends, we are Triumph of the Wild, a blues folk duo from San Diego, CA. We are heading to San Francisco in early January to record our second release "We come with the dust".
ABOUT THE ALBUM
We started writing for this album while we were still making our way back across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas to California. A lot of you might have heard the first song we wrote for the record "Marching drum" right from the womb! And by womb I mean the van. As we kept writing over the months more songs just kept rushing from of our heads to our hands. Notebooks started to fill up with ramblings and scratch notes, melodies were spontaneously being sung out after a few drinks, jokes became serious ideas, serious ideas into jokes, murder ballads into love songs, and eventually we had a record. There are a lot of new elements in the songs. Electric guitar is one of the new additions to this record. It's kind of hard for us to describe what the album is like...it's like describing some good spaghetti you had last week to someone, they will never really know what it tastes like no matter how well it's put into words. So we'll just make you some spaghetti instead. But the one man one woman band will always be our backbone. The name of the record might sound very familiar to some.. and we chose it because it is sort of a recognition of our roots to Woody Guthrie and we couldn't have chosen a better name to represent the music and timing in our lives. We'll be headed up to Tiny Telephone studios for 7 days to record the new songs all analog. We chose to record to tape because we really appreciate the physical aspect of music and recording. We feel it prevents anything from getting lost between us, the recording, and you. We'll be working with Producer/Engineer Jacob Winik who has done some great records such as Samantha Craine's Kid Face and we are confident he'll be able to capture and create a lasting record with us.

MORE ABOUT THE OTHER "STUFF"
Besides the recording part, we will be releasing the record on Vinyl and CD with Artwork by Rev Chad Wells. The record will be pressed on high quality 150 gram Vinyl, full color jackets and labels, and shrink wrapped or signed by us. There will also be a new shirt design that only our Kickstarter supporters will be able to order. We hope we got creative enough to find a package you might like..Recently, we've restored a machine to press our own records to solo plastic plates. You can be the only one to have 2 folk songs, sang by us, pressed to plastic plate 78rpm records. So check out the different rewards, we hope you like them!
SO WHY A KICKSTARTER?
Outside of writing and playing music we work really hard at our regular ol' day jobs to be able to do such an awesome thing. We wish we made enough to do it all on our own. Kickstarter gives us the means to sell the record and other cool stuff to be able afford it. This means, you all are the biggest part of making this record. Not the writing, not the recording, you!
What we can do with your help:
- Press Vinyls $2,000.00
- Make CDs $1,200
- Create Merch $800.00
- Create Artwork $500.00
MINIMUM GOAL: $4500:
- Recording and engineer costs $4,000
- Press Release Campaign $2,000
ACTUAL GOAL: $10,500
But here's the catch..
This project will only be funded if at least $4,500 is pledged by Sat, Jan 31 2015 6:31 PM PST.
We know it is a huge thing to ask of you to help us make this happen. With out your support Triumph of the Wild would be just a sidewalk act featuring a borderline homeless couple but with your support we hope we both can create something much greater. An easier way to look at the goal is we need to sell around 225 CDs to release it, which isn't too bad!
After everything is said and done and all the Triumph of the Wild supporters rewards are delivered we will be grabbing our instruments and getting back on the road. After living in our van, traveling and playing through a lot of the country, we decided we're not meant to stay in one place. We upgraded our traveling home to a little bigger vehicle and will be driving around the country looking for places to play our songs indefinitely. So chances are you'll hear this record live in your neighborhood soon!
Risks and challenges
We have been independent musicians for quite a while and have been through the record creating process from beginning to end several times. Everything is a challenge, but we are confident there will be no risks. With your support we will do everything we can to deliver the best record that we can!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
