***New rewards and stretch goals added as we progress :) - Please be sure to read all the way to the bottom of the story here ***
Although I have a thousand possible projects in mind, I'm hoping this one is a good place to start.
I've been painting and designing full-time for a few years now and have been running my Etsy shop since 2007. I've been lucky enough to meet some amazing people through the shop and have built an absolutely fantastic customer base, to whom I'm eternally grateful for their support.
This project is pretty simple: Using images I have already painted and have uploaded onto my computer (see the example above), I plan on printing a reasonably large amount as postcards. This will be done out-of-house, but then I will do all the packaging here and post photos as the project progresses.
I'm planning on using these six images:
They will have a cute, antique-style back, on which you can either write notes or use them as post cards.
Many customers have asked if I will have the Jane Austen series ready for sale anytime soon, and I think Kickstarter is a great way to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later - and you get lots of bargain goodies too!

Something extra if we can reach a NEW GOAL of £200!
If we reach the £200 mark, each backer who has pledged £10 or over will receive a free pack of Jane Austen Pride and Prejudice Bookmarks! As you can see, they're usually on sale for US$9.50 (currently £6.29) and you're getting them for freeeee!
The bookmarks are each feature a different character from Miss Austen's 'Pride and Prejudice' (the five sisters and Mr Darcy) and are really popular especially over the Holiday period.
So please spread the word - the more we can pledge together, the more freebies, bargains and surprises I can give to you!

Hope you like them!
Update 23rd May 2013
Thank YOU! We've just popped over the £200 mark, which means that all of you who have pledged £10 and over will be receiving a set of the Jane Austen bookmarks too!
We have a few days left, so if you have any Jane Austen-loving friends, do let them know.
Update 24th May 2013
Seeing as we're over our original goal of £180, but so close now to £260 and there are still 9 days to go... I've thought of another little something I can sneak into your goodie bags - bookplates!
Cool little library sticker plates to personalise your books - this one features my painting of "Emma". When we reach this stretch goal, I'll reveal the other design, which will also be included!
ALL pledges over £10 will have a free pack of 10 bookplates along with all your other rewards! Everyone who has pledged £5 will get a single bookplate and those who pledge £7 will receive three.
Update 25th may 2013
Wow! We made £265!
So the bookplates (see the previous update) are now a reality, along with your original postcards, bookmarks and magnets.
Here's your other bookplate :)
Update: 29th May 2013
As a little extra for those who have pledged £25 and over, I'm offering your very own choice of Jane Austen character sketch, along the same lines as these two images.
There is also one more reward of £80 for anyone who would like their own original painting on a book page, in the same style as the postcards: In this reward, you will receive everything in the £50 reward, plus the extras added from the stretch goals (bookmarks, magnets, book plates), PLUS your very own original portrait of your choice of Jane Austen character, hand-painted by me!
Update: 1st June 2013
We're doing so well - 48 hours left! I just wanted to share with you a new painting :) Anyone pledging £80 or more will receive one much like this, but any character and on any book of your choice. I hope you like her!
Risks and challenges
I have worked with my post card printers before and we've always worked together well, so I'm hoping all will go smoothly.
It should take no longer than two months from the outset of the project (ie. ordering the printing) to get these out of the door. If something unforeseen happens, which I guess could be delays in production, I'll let you know the situation and I have other back-up printers who can do the job too.
With this being quite a simple project, although on a slightly bigger scale that I have attempted before, I'm confident any setbacks will be overcome.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
