PRAISE FOR AMICULUS, VOLUME I:
"Amiculus rings the same vibe as a very popular HBO show. I’m sure you’ve heard of it (Game of Thrones). If you’re looking for a well-written and original tale in the same vein with all of the intrigue, death, and king-killing then do yourself a favor and drive, walk, run, gallop... to pick up Amiculus." - Project-Nerd
Amiculus: A Secret History is an original, epic three-part graphic novel series telling a lost history of the Fall of Rome, written by Travis Horseman and lavishly rendered by 30-year comics veteran Giancarlo Caracuzzo.
This series was launched in 2014 following the successful Kickstarter funding of the 64-page Volume I: Roma Aeterna, thanks to the generous support of its many backers. Volume I is currently available on Amazon as well.
This campaign is dedicated to the completion of Volume II: Flagellum Dei, the 72-page second chapter of this unauthorized biography of the destruction of one of the greatest empires on Earth.
Volume I asked the question, "did Rome fall...or was it pushed?" It then introduced the menacing, mysterious figure Amiculus, a seemingly unstoppable scourge of the Romans who aids the barbarian hordes as they tear the Western Empire apart, inching closer and closer to Rome and the young emperor at its heart...
Volume II delves deeper, revealing past secrets of Romulus, boy-emperor of Rome...
...his father, General Orestes, and his linkage to Attila the Hun...
...and the origin and nature of Amiculus himself.
The success and publication of Volume I is the latest of many milestones in the years-long journey of this project. In that time, I absorbed a library's worth of research, traveled to Rome to gather hundreds of model pictures, and secured my production team, including Roman artist Giancarlo Caracuzzo.
As in the campaign for Volume I, the proceeds of this campaign will primarily provide completion funds for art production (line art, coloring, lettering) for Volume II, as well as also satisfying costs for printing, distribution and fees.
I'll be bringing back popular Volume I incentives, while adding some excellent new rewards at every level! Visit the Gallery section of www.amiculusrome.com to see examples of reward tiers for this campaign!
Risks and challenges
Some lessons were learned from the Volume I campaign: full art production, printing and distribution of rewards was delayed by a few months. However, I remained in constant contact with my backers, alerting them of all developments, and ultimately satisfied all reward obligations with very few mishaps and without significant delay. Many challenges were first-time printing and setup complications, which should not come into play for Volume II. Also, I am building additional art production time into the new schedule as a precaution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
