My second Kickstarter is here, and it's Vagina Diary at its best!
After the success of Vagina Diary #4, I'm back to announce Volume 5 + Vagina Colouring Book.
Vagina Diaries are an illustrated book series about a young woman and her vagina, as well as online dating, vibrators, love, periods and heartbreak, an insight of what it is really like to be a woman.
A few years ago I read, Vagina: A New Biography by Naomi Wolf and it was a life changing experience for me as a woman. I have to admit that previously I hadn’t paid much attention to that part of my body and I don’t remember ever having used the word ‘vagina'.
So, I decided to write my own vagina diary! I wanted to create an empowering, fun, and easy to read book, that will inspire women, promote positive body image and start a conversation about vagina.
When I started writing my first diary, I was 27 years old, I had just broken up with my boyfriend and I had moved to London to pursue a career. With my 30th birthday rapidly approaching, I felt the pressure to get married and have kids. So, I tried online dating and I met somebody, who I desperately tried to turn into my husband… My first book was born, Vagina Diary. I’m Looking For A Husband.
I continued writing, instead of looking for a husband (you can guess how that turned out!), I also began my search for true happiness, which is the subject of my second book, Vagina Diary 2. I Just Want To Be Happy!
In Vagina Diary 3. I Want To Be Famous, I write about the pressure to succeed and how after publishing my first book, I believed I was going to become famous.
Vagina Diary 4. I’m A Grandma... follows the same format as my previous books. It is about getting older, being ‘ghosted’, body image and Tinder.
The last book from the series, Vagina Diary 5. I Just Wanna Be Myself, talks about being authentic and following your dreams, as well as friendships, sexuality, commitment issues, ‘nice guys’, intuition, and vagina of course.
Every Vagina Diary features over 100 illustrations which are created by me.
Each entry is written in the style of a diary.

Hello! My name is Ania Placzkiewicz and I’m the creator of the Vagina Diaries book series. I am an artist, writer, illustrator and performer currently living and working in London.

The word vagina has a long history of making people incredibly uncomfortable; it starts in childhood and seemingly never ends. It has been termed many names, from flower, fou-fou, front bum, ladybits to pussy, fanny and cunt. Two thirds of women today still admit they are too embarrassed to say the word ‘vagina’. However, using the word vagina ensures ownership over your body, provides a positive boost to women’s self-image, and increases confidence.
I need your help to pay for the editing, printing and Kickstarter fees.
Risks and challenges
There are no risks. My fifth book has been written and is currently being edited. After that I will work on the design and illustrations myself, which I am planning to complete by November. I will post regular updates in the next months. As I have already completed a successful campaign last year, I am experienced and efficient in the process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
