A clown how-to guide about womanhood @ the Oahu Fringe Festival. Hilarity ensues...
Kachuzzi Presentare! is a hilarious social commentary about the many often unattainable things society expects women "to be." Ridiculously told through a clown perspective, Kachuzzi does her best to be an alluring and flawless beauty, a self-sufficient career woman, and a loving mother. Kachuzzi is occasionally bested in her adventures by her arch nemesis, the Sexy Foil. Highly audience interactive, men might become objects of Kachuzzi's affection and women might become confidantes or competitors.
Kachuzzi the character was created by Tara Mariquita Makua during her training at NYU's Experimental Theatre Wing. Kachuzzi has performed short clown pieces primarily in and Honolulu where Makua now lives. In 2011 she began workshopping with Enda O. Breadon on a way to combine Kachuzzi's short pieces into a full length performance. Breadon lives in Honolulu as well, but has worked as a director, movement coach and playwright at professional theatres throughout the United States and Europe. When we clashed our clown sensibilities the result was Kachuzzi Presentare! which we hope to premiere, almost in our backyard, at the second annual Oahu Fringe Festival this November. Ultimately we hope to bring it to audiences beyond Hawaii, but for right now all we're looking for is enough money to get the show into our trunk and down the street for our first real live audience!
