This CD will feature beautiful folk songs and classical music from my homeland, played on a variety of instruments and in many styles.
Many people enjoyed my first CD, Hiding Place, and have requested a follow-up. Well, this is it! This CD will feature wonderful and varied folk songs and classical compositions from my home country of Kyrgyzstan--a beautiful country in Central Asia with a rich artistic heritage. Instruments will include cello, komuz (a lute-like instrument native to Kyrgyzstan), piano, orchestra, electronics, and more! Listeners will enjoy music in a multitude of styles.
The producer and arranger for this CD will be my husband, Clay Greenberg, a talented arranger and the producer of two commercial recordings on the Nonesuch and Canteloupe labels.
We are so excited about this project--in fact, the creative juices are already flowing! We have many ideas and some arrangements have already been completed. We just need your help to make this undertaking viable. The money you contribute will cover the following costs:
- Studio Time for recording, editing, and mastering
- Musician fees
- Cost of producing CDs and inserts
Kyrgyzstan is located in Central Asia, between Russia and China. It is part of the famed Silk Road, and has some of the most beautiful nature in the world. Kyrgyzstan is a former Soviet country, but its history and tradition extends back centuries before that.
Kyrgyz culture is nomadic and strongly connected to nature--especially the mountains. Much of the music depicts travel, mountains, and various animals. The mood of Kyrgyz music ranges from lively and dancelike to melancholic.
The CD will contain 40-60 minutes of music.
