The "Halloween Baptizm" suite is a new work that I have composed for a unique guitar quartet combination – 6-string, 12-string, Nylon, and Bass – that showcases and fosters new possibilities for guitarists of the 21st century.
But "Halloween Baptizm" is much more than just music: The work also includes two books – one chronicling the creation of "Halloween Baptizm" and the other a completely notated score (in standard notation and guitar tablature) – with artwork, by Maria Nicklin and Gonzalo Fuentes, that compliments both the music and the text.

On the recording of "Halloween Baptizm" I performed all four guitar parts (52 individual tracks for all 13 pieces), but it is my hope that "Halloween Baptizm" will inspire guitarists to play together in a new way.
I know from experience that there is an abundance of guitarists throughout the world. Most of these guitarists, when they play together tend to stick to the traditional roles of accompanist(s) and soloist(s). I am all for this! I support and encourage it. Still, I hope that "Halloween Baptizm" will point guitarists into further directions, directions that foster group-interaction; active-listening; extreme attention to detail, nuance, dynamics, articulation, timbre, etc.; and comradery
Risks and challenges
"Halloween Baptizm" could be considered a niche project – the music, instrumentation, and concept are all very idiosyncratic – but my hope is that the uniqueness of "Halloween Baptizm" might intrigue a broad range of curious and adventurous music fans.
Additionally, the multimedia aspect of "Halloween Baptizm" – music, text, notation, and art – meant that I had to organize and oversee a vast array of tasks, far beyond those of the usual composing, performing, and recording process.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
