About this project
Your Gemio Band’s advanced LED technology creates millions of colors and endless Light Effects that respond to music, movement and the people around you. Connect with friends by pairing your bands. Send Light Signals to communicate in a flash. Be part of the show at concerts and events by pulsing to the beat, syncing with the DJ, or connecting to the crowd around you.
It’s the first wearable that lets you change your design using snap-on Tiles as easily as changing your clothes. Switch up your band’s Tiles, colors and Effects to match your look, your mood or the moment.
Gemio has light, motion, sound and proximity sensors so it responds to who you're with, where you are and what you're doing. Gemio uses a panel of LED lights and a palette of millions of colors to create unique Light Effects for any situation. It can reflect your mood, match what you're wearing or pulse to the music.
Your Gemio includes advanced Light Effects that mimic elements in nature and respond to your movement. The Water Effect (below) flows blues, greens and whites across your band. Fire emulates the flickering oranges, reds, and yellows of a flame. and "sparks" when you tap your band.
Connect with friends by simply pressing a button on your Gemio. You can create a real life network on-the-go, anytime, even without your phone. It's a whole new way to connect with people you meet at events, festivals and concerts.
Gemio lets you send Light Signals to your friends using the MyGemio App on iPhones and Android devices. Light Signals are patterns that play on your bracelet and communicate simple messages, like: "meet me", "let's get out of here", "I'm on my way", or "thinking of you". The signals are easy to understand because they mimic the message you're sending ("meet me" has lights that meet in the middle). You assign colors to your friends so you instantly know who the message is from and what it means.
Gemio comes loaded with commonly used messages, but you and your friends can create your own Light Signals.
Gemio is the first wearable tech that allows you to completely change the look of your band in a snap (literally). You change designs by simply switching out your Tiles. All the Tiles are optically designed to work with Gemio's LED panel - creating beautiful effects and signals.
At launch, we will be releasing six Tile designs to choose from (even more if we reach our stretch goal). Every reward level on Kickstarter that includes a Gemio Band comes with the Gemio Tile set and 2 Tile sets of your choice. You don't need to pick the designs now, we'll ask you to pick from the collection before we ship.
Your Gemio Band will ship with our signature Gemio Tile set:
In addition, there will be 6 Tile set designs available to choose from when you pre-order Gemio Bands.
Because you and your friends helped us reach our first 2 Stretch Goals, we are able to add 6 more print Tile set designs and 3 "shapes" Tile sets for you to choose from at the end of the campaign:
We'll continue to release new designs so your Gemio is always fresh and fun. We're also working with celebrities and designers to create limited edition designs.
Gemio charges wirelessly and has dual batteries that will keep the party going all night.
The magnetic docking lets your Gemio hover magically when it's charging -- it can even be the coolest night light you've ever seen.
Your Gemio takes any music, concert or festival experience to the next level. Use your swappable Tile sets to coordinate your Gemio to your concert or festival look. Be part of the light show by having your Gemio pulse to the music, or sync to the DJ or crowd around you. Stay in the moment without staying glued to your phone. Use Light Signals to know when friends arrive, wanna meet up or are ready to go. And your Gemio is built to hold up to concert conditions - it’s rugged, doesn’t get hot (even after extended use) and stays charged for 5 to 6 hours.
Gemio's patent-pending wearable technology creates amazing responsive light effects, connects you with friends, groups and interests, and enables a new way to interact and communicate.

The My Gemio App lets you control the behavior of your Gemio from picking colors and light effects to sending light signals. It also keeps track of the friends you see IRL - so it's easy to stay in touch or meet up.
And that's the just the beginning, we are working on many new features of the app to add in the near future.
The MyGemio App will be available for iPhone and Android at the time we launch. If you are interested in being part of the beta testing group please contact us at email@example.com.
For manufacturing Gemio Bands, we have partnered with a top tier factory that makes wearables for several major brands.
Gemio believes in the power of people connecting. Gemio is proud to partner with the non-profit foundation, Love is Louder, co-founded by actress Brittany Snow. Love is Louder strives to raise the volume around the message that love and support are louder than any internal or external voice that brings us down. Gemio is a proud supporter of Love is Louder and they will be the first Community that Gemio Band owners can subscribe to on the MyGemio App. Subscribers will simultaneously receive periodic light signals from Love is Louder to remind the community that we are all connected. To join the Love is Louder movement, visit www.loveislouder.com.
You can also amplify Love is Louder's partnership with Gemio by pledging $25 for this limited edition t-shirt.

Risks and challenges
We’ve been working on prototypes for over a year, iterating the hardware and software design and engineering. We’re most excited about our recent partnership with a major manufacturer with a track record of producing some of the best known and high-quality wearables. Whenever you manufacture a product there are a lot of moving parts which all need to integrate smoothly to keep to a schedule. Many things can throw that off: part scarcity, part delays, quantity changes, quality control glitches. If these come up, we’ll let you know with regular updates and hope you’ll understand and bear with us as we solve any problems.
We still have a final iteration to complete before mass production and this could cause changes to the design if that’s required to make the bracelet more durable or fit better. We don’t anticipate anything significant, but we’ll tweak it if it’s going to make it better, and we wanted you to know that up-front.
The App will continue to evolve and we’ll be adding new features regularly, but that also comes with a risk of bugs. Of course the release process will include beta testing, but given the time frames and small initial user groups it’s always possible some bugs will slip through. We’ll communicate any known bugs and fix them as quickly as possible.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
