Welcome back, friends. It's your uncanny comics creator, Max West, and I've got another magnificent comics project for you to support!
Sometime last year, we produced a limited edition print run of my triumphant comic, Sunnyville Stories. This was the Sunnyville Stories Super Special #1 which contained two whole stories with bonus material. Well, this ambitious drive is to fund another mesmerizing comic - the Sunnyville Stories Super Special #2! Our goal is a modest one; we aim to raise US$250 to print 25 copies of this vibrant 68-page comic.
UPDATE 9/29/2018 - FIRST STRETCH GOAL UNLOCKED!! The Kickstarter is funded! If we make it to US$300, everyone who pledged at the Sunnyville Aficionado level (US$4) and above will get not one, not two, BUT THREE DIGITAL ART PRINTS! In addition to a high quality TIFF of the Super Special #2 cover, you will get TWO MYSTERY PRINTS NOT AVAILABLE ANYWHERE ELSE!!
Sunnyville Stories is the riveting saga of two teenagers, Rusty Duncan and Samantha Macgregor, in a remote village. They have all kinds of adventures in Sunnyville and in its vast surrounding wilderness.
Rusty Duncan is the protagonist of Sunnyville Stories. He's a wisecracking city boy now living in the tiny village of Sunnyville - a proverbial fish out of water.
Samantha "Sam" Macgregor is the deuteragonist, Rusty's best friend and a sweet country girl. She enjoys Rusty's company but also has to keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't pull any crazy stunts.
The charming hamlet of Sunnyville is one that is isolated from the outside world by vast wilderness. Isolated by mountains and vast stretches of forest, the reliable townspeople go about their daily business. Dressed in unpretentious clothing (males wear suits or farm clothes, females wear skirts or dresses), this no-nonsense populace lives untouched by today's hectic world. In this town live Rusty and Sam, where much of this series takes place.
Our first story though does not take place in Sunnyville. In Sunnyville Stories #15 - "May Be A Price To Pay" - Rusty travels to the television station in the nearby resort town of Solton. Joined by his parents, Sam and Sam's sister Margaret, he becomes a contestant on the game show "Riddles of the Sphinx". Rusty's main reason for getting on this game show is all the prizes he could win. Unfortunately, Rusty's mind is clouded with thoughts of prizes and he may end up walking away with nothing at all.
Sunnyville Stories #16 - "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" - will stir your emotions. The venerable Mr. Jakes announces his retirement from his lifetime of fixing Sunnyville's appliances. He passes the torch to his nephew Roger...and then he passes on from this world.
Devastated over the death of Mr. Jakes, the people of Sunnyville remember him and say goodbye.
In addition to these stories, there'll be a short 3-page story not available anywhere else! How's that for an incredible bonus?
Shall we move onto the funding goal now?
Twenty-five copies of the 68-page comic will cost about US$102.50 plus 13.65 to ship them to me.
Mailing them out to backers is next. Mailing out about 17 copies to domestic backers at an estimated first class mail rate of 3.46 each will run to about 58.82 with international mail to roughly 3 backers abroad would run 37.50.
That runs to a total of 212.47. We have to tack on 10% to that (3-5% for processing fees and 5% taken by Kickstarter) which brings up the total to 233.71. With some extra money added on (for any contingencies), the total we aim to raise will be US$250 all together.
So what do all of you out there get out of this? Why...you get some monumental rewards!
Anyone pledging just US$1 will get their name printed in the book as thanks.
Anyone pledging US$4 will get their name in the book and a free PDF copy of the Sunnyville Super Special #2!
Anyone pledging US$8 will get their name in the book, a free PDF copy and a signed & numbered copy of the Sunnyville Super Special mailed out to them ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD! Yes, even if you live in Canada, the United Kingdom, Japan, etc, you can still get my comics.
The first 5 backers to pledge US$10 in the first 72 hours of the campaign will get their name IN BIG LETTERS printed in the book, a free PDF copy, a signed & numbered copy of the Sunnyville Super Special mailed out to them plus you will get one of 4×6 watercolor artwork of the Sunnyville characters with your comic (my choice).
Anyone who pledges US$100 will get a very special reward – this will be limited to ONLY ONE BACKER. Anyone pledging that will get their name IN GIANT LETTERS printed in the book, a free PDF copy and a signed & numbered copy of the Sunnyville Super Special #2 mailed out to them. But wait – there’s more! You will also get four of those 4×6 watercolor sketch cards shown above (my choice) and you will get to own the original cover artwork I’m using for the Sunnyville Super Special #2 cover! Doesn't that sound sensational?

I am also the creator of the gag series Tiffany & Corey.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
1. Spread the word! Tell people all about the Kickstarter and, even better, tell them of Sunnyville Stories!
2. Use social media to spread the word and get people to help with pledges & promotion! Use Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and so on.
Risks and challenges
Shipping remains my biggest challenge. In spite of careful calculations and even a test shipping (I mailed a copy of a comic to myself from Minnesota), any challenges could arise.
I also have to wear many hats, having to handle creation, publication, mailing and marketing. It's a tricky balancing act but I expect to still succeed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
