About this project
The Prophecy Sketchbook is a 40 page paperback art book that explores a dark and humorous fairytale world, filled with fun and interesting characters. The book contains my illustrations and sketches, alongside the ideas and thoughts behind them. The book also features step by step progressions of the finished paintings, giving the reader an insight into the process behind the artwork.
My name is Sam Carr, and I'm a fantasy illustrator from the UK. In the beginning of 2016, I was given the opportunity to illustrate a deck of cards that would be used in a roleplaying game to determine the outcome of player's actions. What's more, there were also recurring characters and story arcs threaded throughout all of the cards. We explored many different corners of the world, from the antics of the mischievous thief, to the scheming of the ambitious prince charming.
This was the first time I was asked to bring my own style and ideas to the table, and one the biggest project I’ve ever undertaken, with a plan for a total of 82 illustrations.
Unfortunately the project was cancelled, and I was left with a lot of sketches and paintings. It didn’t feel right for them to never be seen in their entirety, which is why I made this book. The working title for the project was the Prophecy RPG, so this is the Prophecy Sketchbook.
My hope is that the end of this project will begin a new chapter for me as an independent creator. With your support I'll be able to get my artwork and ideas in this book out into the world. Support for this project will also help make other creative projects in the pipeline a reality.

Risks and challenges
This is my first kickstarter project, so I have gone out of my way to make it as low risk a project as I could. All of the artwork is done, and the book is already laid out and ready to go to the printer, so there is no risk of an incomplete book.
The books will print & ship out direct from the printer Lulu.com, however I'll personally deal with any books that are damaged or go missing in the post. I'll distribute the Special Edition orders myself, which is why they have been limited to 50 copies.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
