Stretch goals are now published!
So, we’ve heard your suggestions and are launching two tiers of stretch goals. Read on below or simply check out the updates page for a full breakdown!
We're proud to introduce the Reference 65 Collection - the A65 Dress Watch & S65 Sport Watch - timepieces that capture your stories and express your unique individualities.
Each Reference 65 timepiece is truly one-of-a-kind, because you are going to be co-creating the watch with us.
At Schaffen, we aspire to take watch customisation to new heights. We like to ask - if every watch told a story, what would yours say?
In self-winding automatic watches, most rotors come pre-built in the watch. In pushing the boundaries of custom-made watches, we decided to challenge this assumption and delve into the movement of the watch.
The rotor, or oscillating weight, winds each movement and provides space for designing freedom, capturing stories and allowing for an even further expression of creativity!
If you don't have a design in mind yet, that's alright!
After the campaign, we will discuss with every backer and recommend personalised ideas and motifs which would make great designs on your rotor.
To begin the creation of your Reference 65 timepiece, go bold by designing your own hour markers and/or choose to have your signature or motif on the dial.
We can also recommend designs such as classic roman or arabic numerals. Shown above is a series of Burmese numerals commissioned and designed by a client.
Alternatively, keep the dial simple for a clean look!
The devil is in the details, and we're proud to offer customisation to an unprecedented level of detail:
Choose a black or white date window, or go without one for a purist look.
Select blue or silver watch hands, or go with a mixture, such as silver hour/minute hands & blue seconds hands.
We have different customisation options available for each collection. Read on below to find out more!
After the campaign, each backer will receive an exclusive invite to an online dashboard, where these components may be selected.
Inspired by dual-toned dials popular in the 50s & 60s, the dial of the A65 Dress Watch is vertically brushed in the centre, with a matte outer ring containing the appliqués.
Both the appliqués and watch hands are faceted to catch light at different angles when rotating the watch.
For additional contrast, the case-side has a brushed finish while the bezel is polished, finally completing it with sapphire crystals to the top and the case-back.
A Genta-inspired design, the S65 Sport Watch bears an integrated bracelet while keeping the case at a versatile 39.5mm.
Made of 316L stainless steel, the case comprises two bezels: a circular-brushed round bezel sitting atop a polished, rounded-hexagon sub-bezel.
The dial is finished with a horizontally-ridged texture, a novel design which creates a unique stylistic element.
We believe that designing your rotor is only meaningful when built on a reliable and recognised movement, making each watch worth keeping and sharing.
We are proud to collaborate with Sellita Watch SA in using their "Swiss-Made" SW200-1 movements, a trustworthy caliber with 26 jewels. Our choice of movements are further regulated in Élaboré grade and completed with heated blue screws.
You are going to treasure and share your custom-made Reference 65 timepiece, and we want to give you our assurance.
Each Reference 65 timepiece will come in a wooden box, with black PVC leather cushioning the watch. The box comes complete with a personalised warranty card & certificate of authenticity.
Working with top-class manufacturers such as Sellita Watch SA, we are confident in the quality of our watches, providing a 2 year warranty on all our watches.
To realise the dream of truly customisable timepieces, we amassed resources and expertise from all over the world. The reliable and robust movement is made in Switzerland, while the rotors are individually 3D-printed by cutting-edge manufacturers in Leuven, Belgium.
The rotors are then hand-polished and finished by jewellers in Singapore, before assembly by our watchmakers. We personally check through every single timepiece to ensure that each watch is a beautifully-crafted, well-made piece.
Hi, I'm Nicholas (right) and to share with you more about ourselves, I started this company with my brother, Jonathan, 2 years ago. I remember it was on 14 October 2015 that we started making watches.
Working with jewellers and watchmakers we have known for years, the goal was simple: to create an exclusive collection for the family. The very first watch we made, we dedicated it to our father on his 50th birthday. And to make it a one-of-a-kind, we printed his signature on the dial, much to his delight!
Word spread and before we knew it, the Republic of Singapore Air Force commissioned us to make a custom timepiece for a retiring colonel. This time, we had the colonel's name and years of service on the dial to make it a truly meaningful retirement gift.
Since then, we have gone on to make hundreds of personalised timepieces, creating countless special moments for others... And it is because of these exact moments in our journey that led us to where we are now - the Reference 65 collection.
The number 65 pays homage to the year of independence of our home country Singapore, and is also the birth year of our parents. It is therefore our dream to create valuable and meaningful keepsakes for every individual through this new collection.
Our name Schaffen (ˈʃafṇ) means "to create", and this has represented our passion from day one. In this collection, we would love to work with you to co-create a timepiece that is truly the only one in the world...
Risks and challenges
Finding proper, good quality suppliers was a challenge that we had to overcome. We searched and experimented with over 20 suppliers before we finally found the ones which proved to be excellent.
Another challenge is that every watch will require certain lead time as watch production, individual rotor manufacturing and watch assembly take place sequentially. We have taken this into account in our lead time and fulfilment projections.
Over the past 2 years, in a previous watch collection, we have made over 300 watches and worked closely with our manufacturers and suppliers. Thank you for your support and we are fully confident in fulfilling our projected timeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
