I've been a book worm as far as I can remember. I have books that are 25 years old and are in tip top shape. Long and short is, I LOVE to read. I've always imagined that I would see my book on a bookshelf at a bookstore for sale. I grew up on a small island and the opportunities looked dim. Though the flame dwindled somewhat, my dream never died.
I thoroughly enjoy self help books because they're so educational and lets you in on things you never knew about yourself. Over the past few years, I've been writing down motivational quotes, original quotes, that were influenced by some occurrence in my life after I pulled through a challenge. One day I realized that I had enough to make a book. I decided to go for it.
My biggest obstacle was finding a publisher and when I did find one, I also needed to have a literary agent. Bummer. After thorough research I found Aurora House, International Book Publisher, Australia. Lynda is the most beautiful spirit. She's the publisher of this small publishing house. She liked my manuscript and supported me. We discussed ideas through Skype calls and emails. A contract would cover basically everything including my book listing on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.
I was over the moon with excitement. I hadn't told anyone in my family because I want it to be a grand surprise, I still do. I plan to have a family and close friends gathering for "no reason" and reveal my accomplishment. It's all figured out in my head.
So why haven't I paid the fees and have my wishes fulfilled? My mom had to seek medical attention abroad and I went with her. She's fine now, thank you, and has a follow up within a year.
I am confident that I will be able publish my book and be the first person in my family to have a published book with the help of the angels reading this page.
For the future, I have already completed the manuscript of a second book and currently working on a third.
Thank you ever so much.
Risks and challenges
Finding a literary agent with my budget was impossible. One cannot approach a publishing house without an agent so that had been my hang up for quite some time. Finding Aurora House made this process a lot simpler and now my dream which was once on the horizon is now just a few feet infront of me.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
