Help print the first volume of Unsounded, a fantasy-adventure comic about sorcery, hidden truths, and unconventional families.
Help print the first volume of Unsounded, a fantasy-adventure comic about sorcery, hidden truths, and unconventional families.
1,275 backers pledged $43,383 to help bring this project to life.

Thanks so much, everyone!

The stretch goal was met and now the first volume of Unsounded will contain an additional, exclusive Duane and Sette story. It's going to be awesome! Thanks, guys!

I know there's still a lot of time left in the drive but I don't plan on adding more goals. Rather than stretch myself too thin I would much rather focus on the present content and do the best job I can do. Once the Kickstarter is over I'll start updating this space with progress art of the cover, of the prints, and check in with progress reports on how the book layout, printing, and shipping are going.

Later this week I will be adding five more watercolour illustration rewards. I will update this space when I do so, so stay tuned if you're interested in those.

Thanks again, everyone!

Another vote for not re-drawing. As much as I agree that you've come a long way, I'd rather you continue moving forward then looking back.

Yeah, another vote for NOT redrawing -- going back to do touchups and minor corrections is one thing, but keep moving forward! Don't let the black hole of revisions suck you in! <3

Also what is even up with all the love of hardcover?? Hardcover books just make me think of textbooks and they're hard to curl up with on the couch or bed.

    4. Gally on September 24, 2012

oh nooooo don't redraw! That leads to an endless spiral of redrawing. The first chapter isn't the same as the newer stuff, but its perfectly fine for printing.

I also second stickers! You could just use the little versions of them from that one wallpaper and not even have to do much extra art work!

You know what I'd love to see? Redraws. You're art style has come a long way, and frankly, its superb. I don't mean to suggest that the first chapters were not epic (they were) but something about you're recent pages screams masterpiece. I can see the difference, and though there is nostalgia in viewing the original work as a work of art in and of itself, maybe you could choose a couple pages and re-vamp them similar to the "breaking the fourth wall" ones that gave me chills when I first started this adventure. Some of that element will be lost in the print, I would think, so just an idea to give it that extra 'oomph' not that its needs it mind you. =)

People love stickers if you wanted an extra thing that's light and easy to pack in. In bulk stickers are pretty cheap to print as well.. =) standoutstickers.com

Not that you need extra stretch goals.

I like your username, SharesLoot :D

I think the international shipping should mostly be okay. Domestic shipping is part of the base reward price, so really add five dollars to the extra international shippers pay for the real amount. And that's not for anything fancy, just regular First Class International.

Seems like you set the pledge levels far too low, Ashley =)

Your international shipping rates are really cool, are you sure they are high enough? The OOTS Kickstarter had much higher rates for book shipping.

I know I'm not the first to tell you, but you have to find more ways of permitting us to throw money at Unsounded. Get creative - go crazy! Don't limit your potential just because you are very humble ;)

@Tanner - You can follow me on Twitter or Facebook to keep abreast of Unsounded info. Just go to http://www.unsoundedcomic.com and look in the lower right for links.
@Kathryn - The only additional signed books will be the ones that come with the five watercolour illustration slots I open up later this week. Sorry, my dear, I already have five-hundred books I'll have to sign and sketch in, yikes!

Hey Ashley, so are you for sure not adding more signed merchandise? I keep checking back here just in case one of the slots isn't sold out but I know it's a bit of a long-shot.

Sounds good, do you have a mailing list I can sign up to be on? I don't often keep up on web comics, but now that I'm getting Volume 1, I don't want to miss Volume 2 when you go to print with it sometime next year.

    12. Ashley Cope 3-time creator on September 23, 2012

Next year I'm definitely going to try and print the second volume. Whether it will be Kickstarter or whether I'll be able to fund the print myself remains to be seen :)

Ashley will you do a kickstarter for volume 2 sometime down the road?

I like that you're not going to go nuts with ad-libbed stretch goals; to me it's the sign of a responsible project runner that they know their limits and stick to them.

Trying to think of strech goals that require little effort from you--maybe a complete walkthrough of the process of making one page? Or releasing MOAR concept art? Or a video of you doing a silly dance with one of your dogs? x3

    16. Ashley Cope 3-time creator on September 23, 2012

I'd rather not, Peter. There should be some reward for people who buy the print book over just the PDF.

    17. Peter Olson on September 23, 2012

Will the PDF rewards contain the additional story? If not, could you add a reward level that has a PDF of the print version of the comic with the cover, additional story and any other content added?

    18. Super Dude on September 23, 2012

Well, if you get an incredible amount of money over the goals by the end of it, I'd suggest something fancy with it, like comic-branded swag. (Fairly easy to do with various websites and quirky enough to be highly intriguing.)

    19. Ashley Cope 3-time creator on September 23, 2012

My printer does not offer hardcover, Dheyrdre, and I personally do not like hardcover comics anyway. Sorry :)

    20. Dheyrdre Machado on September 23, 2012

      Really, no more stretch goals?
      :-(
Can you consider hardcover as a stretch goal?
      Signed and numbered sounds great!

    21. Ashley Cope 3-time creator on September 23, 2012

That's an interesting idea, Tanner. I know I'll be splitting all books up by characters, so I'll be drawing all the Sette requests first, then the Duanes, and so on. That would mean the Sette books would have the lowest numbers. Hmmmmm.

Tanner Dabel on September 23, 2012

Just a thought, but have you considered numbering the volumes that will be sketched and signed? I think right now if you add up the current "limited" spots (241 + 200 + 10 + 2 + 2) plus the 5 you'll be adding later this week, it comes out to be 459 total (assuming you don't add any other ways to get this type of rewarded book). Maybe it could be x of 459 included in the space that you sign and sketch since these sound like they'll truly be limited. So glad I got in early and was able to pledge for one before they became sold out.
