A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
How is your day going? What grade would you give yourself? A-? B+? C? What could you do to make it an A+?
That's the game we began to play at the end of our day. It was a great way to connect with each other and reflect on our personal goals. It didn't take long to realize we had a great idea for an app that could help others do the same.
Grade Your Day uses a daily grade, scored via a smartphone, to focus users on the actions that matter.
Grade Your Day will help you define your daily grade based on habits & activities you want to reinforce or avoid. These "upgrades" and "downgrades" are custom-made by you. Did you make it to the gym? Your grade boosts 5 points! Did you eat that second donut? -5 points. Got to get that grade up--make a healthy dinner. Your grade is back up! Each day you get a new grade along with trend data that will keep you focused on your habits and activities.
It's all about Gamification!
Grade Your Day will help users achieve personal productivity & growth through alerts, leaderboards, and analytics that generate insight and greater mindfulness. You'll be able to compete against yourself and your friends to motivate you to reach your goals.
Be part of something big!
We have so many ideas for growth! Integration with your favorite self-improvement apps. Separate modules for work and projects. Internet of Things. Wearables. It will all be on our minds as we grow GYD into a platform to help users achieve personal growth. Your support will make it all possible!
Tell your friends!
One way you can help is to tell your friends about this project and encourage them to support it too! You can find us on facebook @gradeyourday twitter @gradeyourday and our website www.gradeyourday.com Please pass it on, it's much appreciated!
Where does your investment go?
We are working with a great US-based software development company to make the iOS version of our app. They've developed many apps for companies you've heard about. Your investment will go entirely to the app's development.
What about Android?
Android is next! As we add more iOS users, we'll begin developing the Android app. If you back us at a level that offers GYD Premium, we'll give you credit toward a future Android version if you prefer.
We threw in a great bundle including some promo codes for the Premium version of the app.
We are a father/daughter team who created Grade Your Day as a fun summer project to learn about technology, design thinking, and project management. Our idea came from a game where we asked each other to give our day a grade. Then we'd ask what made it an A, B, or C, etc. We made an excel spreadsheet to keep track of our daily grades, and the idea for an app was born! Learn more about our journey at www.gradeyourday.com.
We are truly grateful for any support you provide or for just spreading the word!
Risks and challenges
Our goal is to get our first version out by August, but will only release when the quality of our product meets your expectations. We will keep our backers up to date with our development progress. We want to apply a user-centered design approach as we move forward, and would love to get your feedback along the way.
You'll have an opportunity to test our beta version, which will help us make improvements to our first release. You'll also have our gratitude and will be listed on our contributors page at our website (optional).
All of the above, plus we'll give you a promo code for the premium version of the iOS app (or credit toward a future Android version). We'll also throw in 4 Grade Your Day magnets, which will be great reminders to make the most of your day.
All of the above, plus you'll get 4 extra promo codes for the premium version of the app. This is a great way to start a leaderboard competition with your family and friends! You'll also become a founding member of the Grade Your Day Community--a group to share innovative ideas on using and improving our app.
