About this project
This is the feature film adaptation based on the increasingly popular lore surrounding the mythology of "Slender Man".
Slender Man generally appears (in modern times) as a tall man in a black suit with no eyes, mouth, or clearly defined facial features. He is shown to stalk his victims for years at a time as early as childhood for reasons unknown, torturing them mentally before ultimately murdering them or causing them to mysteriously disappear. The internet popularity of Slender Man has spawned a massive amount of community created content in the form of short stories and videos.
The most important factor about Slender Man is the mystery... Who, or what, is he? What does he want? Where does he come from? Are there even answers to these questions, or will the pursuit of answers to these questions just raise even greater questions?
This feature film will set out to give this character the treatment it deserves: a truly terrifying and thought provoking horror experience. Also, at it's core, the film will discuss the theme of whether it is worse to be afraid of the dark (the unknown), or to be afraid of the light (truth).
(UPDATED) The film tells the story of a young man recovering from a troubled past, who visits his childhood home to take care of his ill mother while his negligent step-father leaves town on business. Complications arise when he begins to be stalked by a mysterious old man, which rekindles the return of vivid nightmares and hallucinations about a terrifying figure called "The Slender Man" as well as unexplainable bouts of memory loss. After discovering clues about his father's disappearance when he was a child, he begins to unravel pieces of a deep terrifying puzzle linking the disappearance to the The Slender Man, leading him down a dark path from which he can never return.
Currently, the project is in pre-production and scripting stage. Once completed, we will immediately begin location scouting and casting before entering production. Once production is complete and the film finishes the post-production phase, the film will be shopped around to various studios and distribution companies as well as entered into various high-profile reputable film festivals worldwide.
So what will the funds be used for? Simply put: quality. This film will be shot with professional equipment by professionals, and feature professional actors on screen... all who do this for a living. This is the real deal!

Not at all. This is pure old-fashioned horror movie goodness.
The most important thing you can do besides donate, is to spread the word. Share this campaign with everyone and anyone who might be interested in donating. That includes Slenderman forums, blogs, communities, videos, websites, horror websites, film communities... anywhere.
Then you are our hero. You will be credited as EXECUTIVE PRODUCER, as well as be offered a percentage of the sales of the film.
That will be determined after the project reaches it's funding goal. We will strive to include some known faces in the film, but we want to stay closer to the unknown end of the actor spectrum.
Steven Belcher served as the Producer, Director of Photography, and Editor on award-winning (Best Film) short thriller "Flat-Tire" as well as award-winning (Best Film) feature film "The Human Web". Both of which are independent films.
He's also worked on projects for Under Armour, GEICO, The Disney Channel, The Department of Labor, and ESPN.
No. The only similarity between this movie and that game is that a portion of the film takes place in the woods.
No. We get nothing unless we reach the goal. It's all or nothing. So please pledge!
If our goal is reached, we anticipate the film to be released around Fall next year.
The film's rating will not be determined until it nears release; however, we are shooting for an "R" rating. This can change at any time.
Yes in some fashion, but most likely not on Kickstarter. There will be a new campaign through a different outlet, if it comes to that.
