Every contribution counts and please help us spread the word! We have hours and hours of material, safeguarding a magical and inspiring story that needs to be finished, told and shared with everyone! At this point, everything we have done has been with no budget, just pure passion. Join us to make this film a reality!
Early in 2010, Paul "Hungry Bear" Vasquez, a former firefighter, MMA fighter and today a sustainable-living farmer in Yosemite Park, posted a three minute video on Youtube of a double rainbow. In the following months the video caught the worlds attention and has now been viewed over 39 million times.
Intriguingly, it was not the double rainbow that caught the worlds attention in the video but Bears emotional reaction while filming. He is overwhelmed with joy and awe over the rainbow, starts crying and finally shouts out “What does it Mean?". For most people it would have been just a double rainbow but, as it turned out, Bear was on to something. The double rainbow did in fact have greater meaning, it would change his life forever!
That same year, a group of Icelandic high school students, loving the sincere happiness displayed in the video, contacted Bear and invited him to come to Iceland and become a patron of their school. They had funding to pay for his travels so Bear, having never before traveled out of North America, accepted.
Words from the director, Marsibil
"I got news that Bear was coming to Iceland and accompanied him with a small crew to film his Icelandic adventure. After five days of traveling in Iceland with Bear I knew that Bear's double rainbow story was so much more than a three minute viral video.
As a person, Bear is somewhat bigger than life, completely unshy with a rarely seen childlike joy and playful nature, for an adult. I found him to be genuinely real and sincere about everything he is. He could be the elder and the child, which fascinated me. Bear has, in a way, travelled many different roads in his past and has had to overcome enormous challenges, some of which seriously threatened his life.
I found myself wondering how the journey Bear was embarking on would effect him as a person. At this point he was on the verge of fame, money was coming in and opportunities were knocking on the door. Being invited to Iceland was only the beginning. Understandably It was all kind of overwhelming for Bear, a strange and uncommon time in his life which comes undeniably through in the footage we have.
We need to close the circle and visit Bear in Yosemite Park. The complete story wont be told unless we see where he is today. How has the double rainbow changed Bear and his life? The time is NOW!"
The plan is to go to Yosemite in May/June and visit Bear for at least a week while filming. Post-production is the next phase and then in November, because of you, we will have a premiere!
Equipment rental, crew & post production will make up a majority of the costs. We also want to buy additional footage we know about and is relevant to the story. Wouldn't it be beautiful if we would finish the film completely together the way the story deserves to be told?
1# YOU can PLEDGE! We need to reach our Kickstarter goal if we are to finish shooting the film and take it through post-production.
2# YOU can SPREAD the WORD! We would truly appreciate your help in getting the word out there to help us connect with those who share our interest. The more people that know about the campaign the more likely we are to succeed!
You can SHARE the campaign on TWITTER or FACEBOOK, "Like" us on Facebook and/or EMAIL this Kickstarter link to your friends or anyone who loves a feel good and inspiring story! We sincerely hope you will be a part of this epic double rainbow forever!
We hope you find a pledge that speaks to your heart! Whether it's a rainbow, a postcard from Iceland, a creative opportunity, a double rainbow T-shirt, your name in the film forever, a digital copy or a dvd of the film, a special pre-screening of the film, to be in the film, to stay with Bear in Yosemite or an associate- or executive producer title and tickets to the premiere with Bear and the crew.
Mostly, we hope you get the feeling of joy and good karma from knowing you contributed in making this film possible by helping us achieve our goal!
Kickstarter is the largest funding platform for creative projects in the world. Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires. If we don't raise our goal, we don't get anything. We truly want to avoid this so please help us spread the word. Everything helps! When you pledge you don't actually pay until the goal is reached and the funding deadline has passed. When we meet our goal we will begin shooting the film and keeping everyone up to date along the way through our social media sites. Join us as we embark on this remarkable journey together.

It is only the funding that is holding us back at this point and finding budget for a documentary is never easy, especially in little Iceland. The good part is that we've already shot half of the film here in Iceland. It is just not an option to give up at this point, what we have is just too good!
We are dedicated and we will make a beautiful and relevant film!
The only question is: Will we finish the film with full budget or with minimum budget and blood, sweat and rainbow tears? Either way we will make an amazing film! We sincerely want you to be a part of our rainbow! We can do this together! Yes we can!
Have a question? If the info above doesn't help, you can ask the project creator directly.
