Compelling Story-Telling, Intense Action-Battles, An Expansive Universe, and Giant Robots! What else could you ask for?
About this project
Cross Fate is a 3D third person tactical-combat game coming to the PC (Steam/Mac*) platform, where you take command of a pilot task squad that operate the battle robots, known as Variable Troopers, in order to recover a cataclysmic weapon and prevent the destruction of all organic life.
The game focuses on customization; from your squad’s load-out and mecha appearance (and abilities) to your choices and how it shapes the story.
Mech Combat – Blast your enemies to pieces with your giant mech’s wide arsenal of weaponry in fast paced battles throughout a variety of 3D worlds.
Visual Novel Story - Meet a unique cast of characters and make tough decisions as Commander in a compelling story told through rich 2D artwork.
Exploration – Visit strange new worlds to discover loot, battle space-pirates, even encounter alien life forms and uncover the secrets within our Solar System.
Customization – Tailor the abilities of you and your squad through intuitive RPG systems, level up, upgrade your weapons, and outfit your mechs with custom gear.
Tactical Gameplay – Take command and order your squad in real-time on the battlefield to gain a tactical advantage over the enemy, work together to complete any mission.
You, as the Commander of the Galaxy Alliance Council prepare for battle by deploying members of your task force, the Amatsu Advanced Pilot Program (AAPP). Choose who to deploy from a selection of supporting characters each with unique traits and abilities. Battle in random encounters, discover new side missions and advance through the main story.
Command your teammates in battle to overcome the randomly encountered enemies in team death-match arenas or complete rule-based mission objectives using the wide array of weapons and tactics from your squad.
Often when not in battle, you will make hard decisions based on the compelling narrative told in a visual novel style.
Earn experience to upgrade your characters’ attributes and unlock new classes and abilities that will aid in your campaign to complete your primary objective.
The new space-based government known as the G.A.C. call a meeting when one of their merchant freighters is attacked by pirates. Upon learning a top-secret weapon has been plundered, they order you, their finest Commander, to choose a team among their fledgling military cadet force and recover the stolen cargo.
You'll start your investigation on the whereabouts of the space pirates, through exploration and interaction with key characters. However it’s never that simple, and soon you will be involved in a faction war between the Earth and the Moon, turf wars between ruling gangs, and even have to deal with a group of dangerous terrorists set on impeding your progress.
You were raised to be a self-determined, responsible individual who always aims for excellence and rarely fails.
As the son of an affluent member of the Galaxy Alliance Council, you were quickly selected as the commander of the newly created Amatsu Advanced Pilot Program.
You are confident that recovering the stolen cargo for the G.A.C. will prove to everyone that you are worthy of the title "Commander of the AAPP," although your first mission may be more difficult than you thought.
The lead scientist and CEO of Hexacross, a small but growing company, which sits on the council of the eight mega-corporations of the G.A.C. She is also the captain of The Faraday, and accompanies the Commander and his task force on their first mission.
Born in Iceland, Yudi is from a wealthy and prestigious family clan. A righteous and idealistic (sometimes also naive) young woman. A great chess player, and with her strategic mind, she leads the cadet class as the Team Captain.
Born from two military officers, and followed as his parents were assigned to different places. Raised in the midst of hardened soldiers, Kellen’s personality also hardened. He comes out as brash and aggressive, due to his intolerance of teenager shenanigans.
Originally from a border town in the Arabic Super-nation of Ahmad. He tends to make others uneasy due to his vulgarity and inappropriate comments, yet his skills as a pilot are undoubted. Considers Bruno a bro.
She was born in Germany, but raised on Mars. One of the most popular girls in Amatsu Academic Centre, she is fun, smart and very pretty, which made her leave a trail of broken-hearted boys throughout her schooling. She one day hopes to be a singer.
Born in China, she was abandoned and then raised at an orphanage. Years later she had a falling out with the matron and ran away. She did whatever she could to survive in the streets and, around that time, she chose her new name. Eventually, after tired of a life of petty crime she joined as an AAPP Cadet.
Ray used to live at Meness II prior to coming to Amatsu. He often panics when things turn sour, which would have disqualified him from the AAPP, but thanks to his family's connections he was able to get through enlistment. He overthinks, causing himself to fail at everything. He has a crush on Emma.
Bruno comes from a multi-cultural lineage, Spanish and Mexican. He used to be a country boy, but got the opportunity to move to the big city. On his way to Amatsu, Bruno met and befriended Keeruu Alhamdah, and have been good friends ever since.
Jacqueline is from a working-class family, in New York City. One day their luck changed, and they won a lottery for residency in Amatsu. She was never too academic, but excelled in physical activities, so she decided to join the AAPP with Emma. She also works part-time at a Burger Stop.
Tenea was adopted by the Commander's Father during one of his neutrality-signing inauguration parties at the UoN Colony of Thornrose. She suffers from albinism and a type of metabolic bone disease, which makes her a self conscious of her own capacity and prevents her from being a VT Pilot. So she currently assists the Commander as his aide-de-camp.
The top ranked Bianca operative, AKA, The Golden Star. Born at the Lunar Colony of Meness II, Jean Kay lost both of her parents when she was but a child. Though she was eventually adopted by another family, she lost them too at the age of 12. Even with those strings of misfortune, she considers herself lucky to be a survivor and keeps a nearly abnormal positive outlook at life.
Since everyone has a little text, let me just clarify, yes! This is Mike Pollock AKA Dr. Eggman!
The first large mech (Variable Trooper), was one called the Vankaiser. It was designed in Japan solely to combat the Miasm. It stood ten meters tall and required two pilots. However, the technology has advanced since then and most can be operated by a single person.
It wasn't long then until the concept spread and VTs became regular weapons of war between factions. There are now hundreds of VT varieties, and experienced crews customize their VT to create the most efficient unit for them.
Along with mechas, you will also be able to commandeer unique vehicles such as tanks, planes, ships (the water kind), and spaceships!
All you've seen here (and things you haven't seen, can't spoil all the fun!) has been done from passion and pocket change, mostly passion. But as a small indie group, just starting out, passion alone will only get us so far, and the little funds we have from our own pockets are running out. So if all you've seen has been done with no funds, imagine what we could do with you guys backing us up!
We really want this project to shine, and we depend on you guys to do it, so check out our Social Goals section for Facebook, Twitter or pretty much any social network. Word of mouth goes a long way!
What are Social Goals? Why it's simple, they're goals that you, as the community, are able to achieve AND they help us spread the word!

Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge is to deliver a high-quality product within a reasonable time-frame. There are a lot of expansive features in Cross Fate, so implementing and tuning each to perfection will require a big effort from our team.
Fortunately we have been working on Cross Fate for well over a year, so our production pipeline and communication within the team has already been well established.
Getting the game distributed through popular platforms such as Steam is another challenge, but we're confident with enough support from the community this can at least be achieved through the Greenlight program.
The most important risk, as with any production, is going over budget to achieve our goals since we all want Cross Fate to live up to our own high expectations.
This risk can be minimized by planning out the upcoming stages of production to completion with a detailed budget, which can be supplemented with ongoing fundraising through the future sale of physical products such as figurines, t-shirts and posters through our own website based on community feedback.
The success of this game hinges on the support of the community backing us!
