Citizens of Earth lives on!

Well unfortunately, the Kickstarter campaign was unsuccessful. Perhaps there are things we could've done differently, but we're choosing to look forward at what is still to come with Citizens of Earth, not focus on the past.

And in that vein let me assure you, Citizens of Earth is not dead! Far from it in fact. Not only are we pouring our hard work and passion into the game each and every day, which has already improved the quality significantly beyond the demo we released, but there are a lot of amazing developments happening behind the scenes. One of which, our acceptance onto Steam, you already know about. In these days of Greenlight, being automatically accepted onto Steam is an honour we accept very graciously and humbly, and we're thankful to Valve for their vote of confidence in the quality of Citizens of Earth.

In addition to all that, there are plenty of other things in the works that I can't really talk about at the moment but which are very good signs for the game.

I hope you'll continue to support and follow along with the game's development. You can follow us on Twitter( or, Facebook ( or and our website (

Whenever we have a stable build ready, we'd love to have you help us test it if you're so inclined. I'll probably do a Kickstarter update whenever we have a new build, in addition to mentioning it on Facebook and Twitter. So if you're following any of those, you hopefully won't miss it. And we'd be eternally grateful for your help in providing feedback and catching nasty obscure bugs.

And as one last interesting way you can support the game, we're interested in working with multi-lingual folk to make sure Citizens of Earth is available to as many citizens of Earth as possible :). We've already had one backer offer to help us localize the game in Italian, which is awesome! At the moment we're specifically looking for help in localizing in French, German, Spanish, and Italian, though we're open to other options as well. So if you're interested in helping, please let us know! And we'd be happy to add you into the credits of the game for your localization efforts as well.

A huge thank-you to everyone who supported Citizens of Earth! Despite this setback, I know that Citizens of Earth is only going to come back stronger. Hopefully you'll continue to stick with us along the way :)

A sad state of affairs - especially given that enough people cared about this to Greenlight it. I'll leave the speculation as to why this failed to the game journos and wish you well, and I'll be there waving my money when it comes out (unless I go broke, or die, or hit my head and become amnesiac, or Western society collapses etc.)

I would say avoid doing another kickstarter. This one got the word out for the game and even with the promotion of Mighty No 9 and Cosmic Star it didn't even get to half it's goal. So unless the goal is like 50k or something more attainable I'd just work on getting the game out while unfortunately spending a bit less on the art budget (the story is what matters most in a rpg anyway)

Despite being unsuccessful, there's more than a thousand persons supporting you and waiting for the game. That itself is already a pretty nice achievement for a pretty new indie studio.

I definitely will support you guys as much as I can and, being French-Canadian, I would like to help for the translation. I have a full time job but I could help if, for example, you put part of the script in a forum with people being able to submit their translation and vote when they have some time. It would obviously not be a professsional translation but with more soul than a google translation.

I don't know the amount of text in the game but with enough people and time I think it could enjoyable in other languages without having to spend money that could be used to polish other parts of the game.

Yeah, as everyone else is saying, you guys should keep working and come back to kickstarter in a couple months with a bit more polish and the lessons you've learned from this kickstarter and I'm betting you can knock it out of the park.

SO glad you guys and this game are still around, so glad, you don't even know. Can't think of much else to say. You gotta keep going. I know this game is great, it's what I want, can't wait to see more.

Deeply sorry this didn't hit the target, there's absolutely no reason why it shouldn't have; it ticked all the boxes for a really enjoyable Western-style jRPG. The humour was great, the visuals were incredibly cute and the gameplay was enjoyable, you did Earthbound proud, that's for damned sure!

I hope you guys bounce back and I'll be certain to jump back on board if (when!!) you do! Following on FB and Twitter just to make sure I always know what's going on! Good luck with the development and DEFINITELY use that auto-Steam entry, it's like a friggin' Gold Card these days! ^_^

Aw man, it's sad to see such a good looking game not reach it's goal but it's awesome to see you guys still chugging along. Good luck!

Yeah, I'm chalking this up to timing, or more like a temporary Kickstarter comedown fatigue from a lot of regular game donators. This did come along at the end of a run of great looking games (Mighty No 9, Shantae, RCR Underground, a few others). I have a feeling Knite and the Ghost Lights is going to suffer the same fate despite looking amazing. Best of luck to all of you though, looking forward to more.

Really depressing about the Kickstarter. I'm not sure what happened. Everything seems in-line for a huge success.

But I had forgotten about Steam Greenlight. That's a good thing. I hope you'll keep sending us updates. It is a sad day, but I know the ending will be happy.

I agree with the idea for a second Kickstarter. The Antharion example is a good one. I didn't even know they had a first Kickstarter, but I discovered their second, and it's one of the projects I've always been most excited about on here.

Ryan, whenever Citizens comes out, you've got my sale. Best of luck to Eden Industries!

The game looks like alot of fun, and I'm glad you guys are still pursuing it! Don't be afraid to attempt a 2nd Kickstarter, Antharion failed their first one, and did a 2nd with a lower goal and managed to beat the original goal anyway. Sometimes it's just a matter of timing.

Sorry to not see this hit it's goal but glad to see it'll come out in some form. I appreciate your idea of having updates on the project here even if it didn't make it. Good luck.
