Last Days of Red Door & Homage to Giorgio Gomelsky
Red Door would like to invite you and let you know about a very special event this Friday May 15th, as part of our last days at Red Door.
Red Door Collective and friends will stage a special multimedia tribute to Giorgio Gomelsky and his legendary music and arts hub which is deemed to close soon (date still unknown) after recent real estate affairs, and 37 years of existence. The multimedia tribute will include an oral history as told by friends including Bob Gruen, Dave Soldier and Gary Lucas, among others, and presented with the Lumiphonic Creature Choir. Gary Lucas, former Captain Beefheart guitarist, and his band Gods and Monsters will perform live.
After having been able to extend life to Red Door and support Giorgio the last 2 years, thanks in large to your support, Gomelsky has been compelled to move from the space, which is slated for a sale and likely demolition later this summer. The event on Friday will honor Gomelsky and the end of an era and pay tribute to the legendary space and scene that he created, which may soon be turned into just another NYC rock n' roll real estate story. This will be a private event for all friends of Giorgio, kickstarter supporters, and select media. We will be honored by your presence. Please let us know if you can attend and RSVP to ensure entry.
Friday May 15th: 8pm - 12am at Red Door, 140 W24th Street
