Tony Chu is a cibopath, a father, a husband, a former traffic cop and the most badass gum-shoeing, dog-chewing, fast-pitching federal agent around.
He deserves to be on your shelf.
This campaign is to launch an officially-licensed Tony Chu mini-bust from the wildly popular comic book "CHEW" by John Layman and Rob Guillory, published by Image Comics.
Tony is designed by Israel Skelton and Rob Guillory, sculpted by Derek Hallett, and stands just over 7 inches tall. He's in scale with the sold-out Poyo mini-bust the studio produced last year.
Tony's emerging from a can of beets with a label designed by Rob with plenty of "CHEW"-y nods on the back ("Instructions: Open container. Throw directly into trash. Seriously. Why would you ever think of eating this? Ew.")
For the campaign, we're offering rewards like a campaign-exclusive plush Chog (beet red with a pink belly), Skype sessions with John, Rob and Israel, and the Ultimate CHEW Pack: One of everything "CHEW" Skelton Crew Studio has ever released, including anything sold out, in a matching number set WITH a never-before-released — and won't be released — FDA badge that only exists in prototype form.
We love doing what we do at the studio and we'd love your help bringing Tony to life.
**** UPDATE! ****
We've added a stretch goal!
If we can hit $26,000 with this campaign, everyone who has backed the Tony mini-bust will receive a free miniature vinyl Chog!
It's just over 2 inches of fricken adorableness, sculpted by Jamie Macfarlane and a piece we plan on launching this fall, blind box-style.
We'll be releasing a limited number of different colors (blues, oranges, greens, whites and glows, to name a few), each sealed in a Poult-Plus can-shaped box.
For each Tony purchased during the campaign, you'll get one free blind box mini vinyl, shipping with your mini-bust(s), if we can hit that extra goal. (So the free, stretch offer applies to any tier $58 and above.)
Thanks so much! The support for the campaign has been really awesome. Please keep spreading the word!
Here's to hoping we can hit the stretch!
Risks and challenges
When dealing with any overseas production, the biggest potential challenge is taking longer than hoped. We've given ourselves a wide delivery window trying to anticipate any delays.
Tony is already sculpted and cast with paint and mold masters ready to go. We plan regular work-in-progress updates as he winds through production. If and when any issues arise, we'll tell you, and we'll tell you what we're doing about it.
Skelton Crew Studio produced the sold-out Poyo mini-bust last year for "CHEW," handling everything from design to fulfillment. If we didn't believe we could produce Tony, and do it awesomely, up to fans' expectations, we wouldn't try.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
