Frequently Asked Questions
Unfortunately, the cost of shipping internationally is costly.
We don’t like charging these charges to you any more than you like paying them, but the reality is that we need to charge the extra shipping charge.
Based upon the weight that I'll be shipping to international destinations, here is the international shipping rates that will be added to the incentives:
Incentives 1, 3 & 4: Canadian shipments $6, all other countries $9.
Incentives 2, 6, 7 & 9: Canadian shipments $9, all other countries $12.
Incentive 5: This is a subscription incentive, so it’s for two separate shipments – Canadian shipments $12, all other countries $18.
Incentives 6, 10, 13 & 14: Canadian shipments $12, all other countries $15.
Incentive 8: This is a subscription incentive, so it’s for three separate shipments – Canadian shipments $18, all other countries $27.
Incentive 11: This is a subscription incentive, so it’s for six separate shipments – Canadian shipments $36, all other countries $54.
Again, I sincerely apologize that shipping is so much, it's not a matter of me trying to get rich off of shipping charges, it's that shipping internationally has become a really costly thing.
If you have any further questions about international/Canadian shipping or if you're purchasing multiple items and not sure how much the shipping should be, please feel free to contact me and I'll help you!Last updated:
The add-ons are available to backers who have pledged $25 or more to the campaign.
To add-on one or more of the five-tea sampler sets:
1) Click on "Manage my Pledge" at the top of the campaign.
2) Add $25 to your existing pledge. If you're currently pledging $25 and you want one of the sampler sets, you would change your pledge to $50. You don't need to change your incentive tier. Only change the amount of the pledge. Complete the transaction by approving the change that you've made.
3) When the campaign comes to a conclusion and the pledges have been collected, you'll receive a survey. When you complete the survey, you'll indicate which of the sampler sets you want.
To add-on a 3-tier tea tin collection:
1) Click on "Manage my Pledge" at the top of the campaign.
2) Add $35 to your existing pledge. If you're currently pledging $25 and you want one of the 3-tier tin collections, you would change your pledge to $60. You don't need to change your incentive tier. Only change the amount of the pledge. Complete the transaction by approving the change that you've made.
3) When the campaign comes to a conclusion and the pledges have been collected, you'll receive a survey. When you complete the survey, you'll indicate which of the 3-tier tin collections you want.
Please note that these instructions are for US shipping. If you're a Canadian backer, you will need to add $6 shipping for the sampler sets and $9 for the 3-tier tin collections.
If you're an international backer, you'll need to add $9 shipping for the sampler set and $12 for the 3-tier tin collection.Last updated:
Yes! It was very important to Frank that his teas always be vegan and that's something we intend to continue as the new 52Teas!Last updated:
I was recently asked if there will be nuts (specifically peanuts) in the blends that we create. Because this is such a sensitive item to be adding to a tea, I have chosen to not add nuts (including peanuts) to our teas.
I have placed a call to the supplier of my flavorings and I was told that the flavorings - including the peanut butter flavoring! - are allergen free.
EXCEPT - coconut. Coconut has recently been added to the list of "tree nuts" and unfortunately, at this time, our flavorings have been exposed to coconut. In addition, coconut is something that I'll be adding to coconut blends (It's a popular flavor, as evidenced in the reblend sampler which includes the coconut cheesecake honeybush).Last updated:
If I find a source for decaffeinated tea that I actually like, then the answer is yes. I don't know think that all the teas that I create will eventually be available in a decaffeinated variety, but if I do find a decaffeinated tea that I like to utilize as a base for our teas, then I will do my best to offer some of our more popular selections as decaffeinated choices.
Again, before I can say with any certainty that this will happen, I will need to first locate a good source for a decaffeinated tea that I not just like but I love enough to drink it regularly. I have had some bad experiences with decaffeinated teas but mostly what I've had are ho-hum experiences with decaffeinated teas. I've only had a few decaffeinated tea experiences where I actually thought, "Wow, are you sure this is decaffeinated tea?" That's the tea I want to use as my decaffeinated tea base!
52Teas is not about the ho-hum or the tea less extraordinary. It's about the way too good to be considered average teas! The flavors - for the most part - are wild and crazy and out there. They're teas that you can't find anywhere else and that's what I want to continue with this company. So there will be no ho-hum teas, even for the sake of offering decaffeinated varieties.Last updated:
Right now, I am working on sourcing the best teas I can find that will still be affordable my customers. Sure, I could source some amazing teas as my experience as a tea reviewer has exposed me to some of the best teas on the planet. But those teas are really quite expensive and I need to find a balance between excellent tasting teas and affordability.
My next priority after excellent taste and affordability is "is it organic?" I believe that I can find teas that fit within these three parameters. So, I'm doing a lot of taste testing right now, finding the right teas to use in my tea bases. I want teas that are all organic.
My flavorings will be organic. My additives will be organic and all natural. My teas will be vegan. And they will be gluten free and allergen free, except for in cases of coconut which has recently been deemed a tree nut.Last updated:
I'm going to try to address this because it can get a little confusing. And please, if you are confused, please feel free to message me privately and I'll help you figure it out! I know it's confusing and I don't want my contributors to be confused!
If you want more than one pouch in any of the incentives, you can add $5 for the smaller size pouch (which is 1/2 ounce) and $10 for the larger size pouch (which is 1 1/2 ounce - 2 ounces, depending upon the tea). Just add an additional $5 or $10 to your pledge for each additional pouch that you want. When the campaign comes to a close and is funded, you'll be contacted with a survey to find out what teas you want.
If you're an international contributor, please keep in mind that the additional pouch will add weight to the shipment so for each additional 3 ounces that you're adding to the order, there should be an additional $3 added to the pledge.
If you have further questions, please feel free to ask me!Last updated:
We will be offering two sizes of our teas.
The first is what I call our "Taster" size, which will be 1/2 ounce of tea. This will be available in subscriptions and as a one-off purchase option.
The second size is our larger size which I'll be calling the "I LOVE this TEA" size. It will be 1 1/2 ounces to 2 ounces of tea, depending upon the type of tea. For most teas, it will be 2 ounces, but there are some teas that are bulkier, like a Bai Mu Dan or Shou Mei white tea which require 2 ounces of space for what amounts in 1 1/2 ounces of tea. There are also some teas that are more expensive per ounce, like Oolong teas. Oolong teas will also be sold in 1 1/2 ounce sizes because they are more expensive.
We will offer subscriptions for the larger size as well as a limited quantity of the larger sizes available for purchase in the one-off option.
All future reblends - not including the Retro Monday reblends or the reblends that will be blended as part of this campaign - will be available ONLY in the large, "I LOVE this TEA" size.
After our first couple of months in business, we'll evaluate our inventory and if we see an issue or trend with our larger sizes not being purchased, we'll change this policy. But for now, we've had several requests to have the larger sizes available for our weekly teas so we'll see how it goes!Last updated:
