Ecopocalypse is a post-apocalyptic Haunted House and outdoor wasteland in downtown Austin. Opening night is a Gala benefitting the SFC.

Thanks to everyone for your support on our project! If we don't get funded on Saturday, all of our backers will have the option to still get tickets and the rewards at the price they backed us at. So we are still encouraging people to back us through Saturday to get early deals. 

Ticket prices for the gala will increase to $125 per person as of Sunday.

Ticket prices to the haunted house will increase to $20 per person as of Sunday. 

We are busy planning, designing, building, raising money and bringing sponsors on board every day.... we are excited about the project! More updates will be coming shortly in the update section in regards to the Gala and our creative team.

What is Ecopocalypse?

Ecopocalypse is post-apocalyptic haunted house in downtown Austin in October 2012.

We are building a variation on the traditional Haunted House theme that will tell a story of the fall of Austin after a series of environmental disasters that we never recovered from: the Bastrop Fires, severe drought, tornadoes, and more.

As your journey of survival unfolds, the lives around you will fall apart, until you come to the end and find yourself wishing things could go back to be the way they were.......

If you do survive you will emerge into lush Foodtopia- a celebration of the life we have now and the great work we are doing locally to support urban farms and taking care of our community. 

Foodtopia will feature gourmet food vendors and an interactive film section. 

Why Ecopocalypse?

We've created this event for several reasons:

1.All three of the communities we are incorporating into this event are all groups we are passionate about and want to begin this great collaboration- Theater, local sustainable farms/healthy living and the environment.

2. We all LOVE Halloween and want to introduce something new and exciting to the Haunted House industry.

3. By having our event, we can benefit several charities, scare people and help out local vendors. It's a win-win-win for everyone involved.

Our mission is to raise awareness of environmental sustainability and healthy local food and provide a unique, scary, theatrical Halloween event in downtown Austin this fall.

Where is Ecopocalypse? 

This is a temporary installation. We have rented out the Coppertank Event Center, which is located 2 blocks east from Congress Avenue and half a block south of sixth street. The best part of being downtown? The foot traffic!! 

Downtown 6th street is packed with people Thursday through Sunday, especially during October for Halloween. 

What is the Gala/VIP night?

Opening night is a benefit foodie event for the Sustainable Food Center, our sponsors, Kickstarter backers and the local Austin community.

We believe strongly in the mission of the Sustainable Food Center of Austin and we are ecstatic to be able to assist them in their current campaign. Our gala night will have Ecopocalypse open for a private touring and will feature many special guests throughout the night. This will be a memorable night for both the SFC and our guests, by making it a unique food event and we would love to have you there.

Tickets to the Gala are VIP tickets on Kickstarter. After Kickstarter, the ticket price for the Gala will increase to $125 per person. So, get your ticket today!

Why are we raising $25,000?

We are raising $25,000 to acquire the supplies we need to build this project and to create the scenes in the production set itself. We are currently hiring and collaborating with local theater arts directors, producers, curators of art festivals and an army of creative people to design the interior and exterior spaces. The more money we can raise above the $25,000, the better the build-out for each space is going to be. 

The key success factor to reaching as many people as possible with this event is the quality of sets we are able to design. We will also use a very small portion of the funds raised through kickstarter for marketing and advertising over the summer.

  • We want anyone who loves our project to back us and you don't live in Austin or won't be in Austin in October,we will still take care of you. We have lot's of options instead of tickets and will contact you after the project is funded to make arrangements with you for something else or have the option to have your ticket donated to a charity. More on information on charity days are below.

  • Our launch date is Friday, October 5th (the VIP Party). We will be open the entire month of October, through Halloween in Downtown Austin.

  • Austin is a very diverse, culturally rich city. Theater and the arts is a HUGE part of who we are, as well as celebrating local organic farms, living a healthy life, appreciating the environment and taking care of it and finally, entrepreneurs. More often than not, most of these diverse groups don't interact with each other; we are looking to change that. There are three main causes we will be supporting as well as countless charities:

    1. The local theater groups. We will be collaborating with private, local theater groups, as well as high school drama directors and students, as both a fundraiser for their programs through ticket sales, scene competitions, etc. We are hoping to allow them to use this an opportunity to have a major fundraiser for their groups. The arts are underfunded and we have found a unique, creative event to help them out.

    2. Local organic Farms and the Sustainable Food Center. We will be supporting these guys, especially in foodtopia. We want to them to be successful and by giving them exposure in our event for the entire month, they will have the opportunity to meet a lot of new customers.

    3. The Environment- we are looking to support groups who do wonderful work in and around Central Texas preserving our parks and natural resources.

  • This project began it's life as a Haunted House but as we've developed if over the last few months, we've decided to take the traditional startle fest of normal a normal Haunted House and create something far more memorable experience. We have taken themes from movies and books like I am Legend, Mad Max and The Road and are developing them into an experience for you to be full immersed in instead of watching it on tv. Is it going to be scary? Of course! It's Halloween. Are they going to be ax murderers, chain saws and too much dried blood? Probably not.
