While technology has made amazing things possible for ordinary musicians, what was once done by large teams of people at record labels now falls upon the shoulders of the band members themselves.
The good news is, the Ol Sonuf "Glass Idols" album is almost completely finished being recorded, and mixing will begin in the 2nd week of October 2013.
The downside is, for a band to create their own album, completely on their own, without support from a label, it is a huge and expensive undertaking. And for a *single person* to do the same is overwhelming. And that is why I am asking for you to take part in making this CD a reality!
My aim with this campaign is to create the first pressing of Ol Sonuf "Glass Idols" CDs - and I want YOU to be a part of making it happen!
I seek to empower other musicians through this album, to show what a single person can do musically - but without you, my listeners, none of it will be able to happen.
Risks and challenges
As of right now (6pm EST, Oct 1), all instrumental aspects of the music have been recorded completely except for one song, which is being finished this evening, and beyond that, only recording vocals remain, and then immediately following that, mixing will begin in the 2nd week of October.
I've already begun work on designing the rest of the CD layout - it will be a 6-panel digipak with a 12-page booklet. The album is almost entirely completed right now.
The only risk would be:
Delays in the CD replication, should there be an error in the DiscMakers order. In which case, the planned release date of Halloween could be missed. I am prepared to rush shipping to compensate for this as much as possible, however. I have otherwise projected other rewards' delivery to November and December to allow time for other rewards to be created (such as posters, t-shirts, and tablature books).
My challenges include:
Squeezing all of this into the next 3 weeks.
Finding the best quality t-shirt printing company who can print the full-color album art as closely as possible to how it appears on the actual CD. Additionally, creating and formatting the tablature book.
