To me, personal space is a way to carve out my own place in tarot.
Personal Space Tarot was first grown from disinterest in the gendered and heteronormative artwork and themes commonly present in tarot.
As an illustrator from a background in art history and visual analysis, I built a deck with limited palettes and stylized motifs to enable the viewer, reader, or whomever to infer more of a personal meaning into the cards.
Without so many blatantly human figures, without prescribing the gender binary upon each card, tarot can be a healing experience that allows a more diverse audience to be represented among the images and themes. It provides personal space, however you may need it.
Who created Personal Space Tarot?
Personal Space Tarot was created in Austin, TX in 2016. Illustrated by Emilee Graverson and in collaboration with Alex Morrison.
What is new in the 2nd printing?
The first printing of the deck was very small, there are less than 100 decks in circulation as of right now. We completely sold out, so are coming to Kickstarter to fund a bigger, more expansive second printing of the deck!
Since printing #1, we've gone over all of the illustrations and cleaned them up, worked on text kerning, and fixed any extraneous issues. We're also working with a new printer, hoping to boost the quality of the cards, give the box a sweet UV gloss design, and upgrade the binding on the booklets.
More importantly, printing at a higher volume means a lower cost per deck, which gives me more freedom to keep working on PS Tarot.
What is tarot, even??
So glad you asked! This deck is absolutely made to answer that question. If you have no idea what tarot is, or you depend on tarot to help you through life's big decisions. If you and your friends like getting together on a Friday and read cards for one another as a form of self care, or maybe, you just like collecting artworks in card-format. Whatever your motivation. There's no better way to learn than through experience, right?
You don't need to know anything about tarot to start learning. If you want to learn from a very warm, helpful, and encouraging mentor, Personal Space Tarot can be that for you.
If you back us on our First Ever Kickstarter campaign, you can get some sweet rewards! These are all limited-edition to this campaign, so that's pretty cool.

I wouldn't have gotten where I am without my family, friends, and the amazing Austin Witches Circle in Austin, TX where we first started selling DIY screen prints and tarot decks at bars around Austin. I'll always be thankful for my start there.

Risks and challenges
Our main wild card right now is production time. All of the illustrations are complete, I have vendors lined up for all of the Kickstarter extras, as well as the artwork done for those as well.
As long as our vendors ship and produce the products following our timeline, we're set. And of course, we will be completely transparent about any snags or delays in the initial timeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
