Here's the plan
Boards and Swords Hobbies will be a gaming venue and shop that we hope will become the cornerstone and hub for the gaming community in Derby.
Our aim is to create a warm and welcoming space that can cater to all the needs of local gamers; from the casual gamer, right the way to regular tournament players.
The store area will be well stocked and we'll be selling items both in the venue, and online. We will also be bringing our monthly card subscription boxes (Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Pokémon) into the store for local customers to pick up if they wish.
We will create links with games manufacturers to bring the latest games to the venue for demo events and for our customers to get hold of them as soon as they're released.
We have plans to hold regular events in a variety of games covering miniatures, living card games and collectible games to name a few. By doing this we hope we can start to build communities, bring people together and make the perfect home for them. Our aim is to eventually hold regional events, so we'll be booking in events on a regular basis.
What we'll use the money on
We will be opening the venue regardless of whether the Kickstarter is successful, but there are certain things that our budget doesn't stretch to.
We'd like to use the Kickstarter money on free in store Wi-fi, a fancy coffee machine and even more terrain that will be available to use in store for your games.

Both Ian and myself are deeply passionate about gaming and this has been a dream of ours for a number of years. From the moment we decided to go into business in the games market, our ultimate goal was always to have a bricks and mortar shop.
We welcome feedback on our ideas and suggestions for how to make this even better. We want to make the space a home for gamers so we need to be listening to every voice.

Risks and challenges
The risks are low as we already have the required funding available to open, so we'll be going ahead regardless of whether we meet our goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
