The on board solar power operates a water misting system as well as an electric back adjustment. All you need is sunshine!
Our product is a new concept to the market. We have spent many months designing everything, from how the solar power system works to building an elegant chair design with the challenge of accommodating all of the components necessary to make the chair function properly. Now that we have the chair in a state of elegance and functionality we have the challenge of sourcing components and tooling up to manufacture them. We seek to raise funds to buy our components in quantity and buy the necessary tooling and equipment to mass produce the Solalounge.
One very important factor for our team is that the Solalounge is made in the USA. Not only do we want to support our own economy, but we want the product to be of the highest quality.
We have been testing and refining the Solalounge and we are ready to begin a large scale production run of this unique product. We have lined up suppliers and production partners that we are confident will provide the quality and reliability we will require. We plan to manufacture the Solalounge in Las Vegas, Nevada. We will do the metal fabrication in our existing metal fabrication shop. The metal frames will then be sent to a local powder coating facility. After powder coating the chairs will go to an experienced subcontractor where the internal electrical parts will be installed, then to an upholsterer where the sling will be added. After testing and inspection, the chairs will be boxed and shipped.
The long term plan is a continued commitment to American production and complete manufacturing under one roof in Las Vegas.
Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We have been involved in intensive negotiations and planning over the last several months as we have developed our plans for large scale production of the Solalounge. Life has a tendency to throw you a curve ball or two along the way even when we carefully plan our production schedules and processes. In order to combat these unforeseen challenges we have built a matrix which gives us the flexibility to meet the invevitable breakdowns and challenges that we will face.
When it comes to risk assessment, we have determined that our initial challenge will be capturing the economies that come with buying our components in quantities that keep costs down. Depending on what rate orders come in, our next challenge will be in setting up production. This is a strength of our team as we believe that we are ready to meet that challenge as we have extensive experience with production. I have over twenty years of large volume production experience and the rest of our team has extensive experience as well. We have the capacity to manufacture these chairs ourselves in the production facilities that we presently occupy. If the demand is heavy we have already negotiated with a team of subcontractors to supplement our production in whatever quantities that might be necessary.
