Beer tastes better when sequenced together
With 15 days to go, today we mark half of the BeerDeCoded campaign and we are 85% funded!
It's clear that there are too many beers in the world, so we are preparing for a beer expedition in 2016. This is a good excuse to meet our backers, say thank you and work together for a day. Beer tastes better when sequenced together!
Our first stop is Slovenia, and today we announce a partnership with Biotehna.org, the first bio-hacking space in Ljubljana.
Check out the new Reward: Sequence a Slovenian Beer @Biotehna!
At Biotehna, Kristijan Tkalec and co-workers are the first BeerDeCoded team outside Switzerland. They will sample some more beers, extract DNA and contribute to expand the BeerDeCoded open data-base.
Together, we will run the first BeerDeCoded workshop in Ljubljana. An exclusive meetup for 15 backers. In the program, Slovenian beer DNA sequencing (of course!), and something special.
Kristijan is a biotechnologist and a master of food fermentation. At Biotehna, during the workshop, he will teach us the secrets of tempeh.
Do you know tempeh? If you ferment barley with yeast you have beer. If you ferment soybeans with a microbial culture you make tempeh, an Indonesian delicacy. We cannot wait to taste some and give tempeh a sequencing shot. We love to explore the biodiversity of everything that is fermented!
BeerDeCoded is growing, some new friends are already on board and others are joining. On Monday, we will tell you a bit more on the technical mapping of biodiversity in beers. Stay tuned!

We are also talking with other potential partners, we will visit London on June 19 and Paris on June 26. If you think you can help us and want to join the first international beer sequencing expedition, drop us a line and let's make the dream team! firstname.lastname@example.org
