About this project
Terry Dame & Electric Junkyard Gamelan have been invited to perform at the 16th annual International Recycling Art Festival of Catalonia in Barcelona, Spain this December. We are so excited to have been invited to this amazing multi-disciplinary arts festival, known in Barcelona as DrapArt '11. This month long festival presents visual arts, music, theater and film all created from or with a focus on recycled objects. Who could be more committed to the recycled objet than EJG? We perform on instruments made from other people's cast offs...aka junk that has been transformed into beautiful works of musical art. So with a bit of your help Electric Junkyard Gamelan will be performing at the festival's opening night celebration on December 16th.
It's a long way to Barcelona...
This will be our first journey to Europe and that in itself is so EXCITING! In order to accomplish this we must pack up our arsenal of original musical contraptions and fit them into 8 road boxes to get it all on a plane. As you probably know airlines now charge for everything...every pound of luggage and every drop of water, I think you even have to pay for your own air sickness bag now! EJG performs on my original musical instruments created mainly out of found and recycled objects. Many of these are metal and metal is heavy so as we speak I am redesigning some instruments to be lighter and break down smaller, plotting and scheming on what kind of road cases will make this possible. It is all part of the preparations and excitement however...it costs a lot of money to fly to Spain.
What will your hard earned donations be used for?
Your hard earned contributions are greatly needed for airfare to Spain and some new road cases...and maybe some paella for the band.
