When I went out that morning, my expectations of the day were clear and meticulously planned. I am impulsive in my true calling, but particular as a lawyer in my daily activities. It keeps them well separated.
That barrier was torn to rubble and my routine went up in flames. Now, I’ll need all my battle-won dexterity to regain my balance and right my realm.
I’ll either become stronger and smarter in the process, or I will take you all down with me.
To be clear - the Four Horsemen are real. They are real and alive in this world, and each one has a fight in the End of the Immortals.
This is War’s story.
Prisoner of War is the first in a series of novels documenting the end of the Immortal era. War, or Alexander Sekhmet in his day job, is jolted from the comfortable life he’s set up for himself, tricked into slipping the leash on his temper and smashing his connections to the mortal world. Now, he must recover and reposition to catch the trickster.
And Camilla Sykes, instructor at West Point, strikes him as the best tool for that job.
Why Is This Cool:
I’ve been reading speculative fiction of just about any sort since I could pick out my own books. I’m an actor, which has taught me unique ways of getting into the depths of a character and coloring everything they say or do with that information. I’m an engineer, which has helped me in putting the plot and arc together into a coherent form, keeping me true to continuity and logic. I’m a martial artist, which informs the action and bite of the narrative. I’ve been writing my own stories since I was twelve, and I’ve finally found one I want to show to the world.
This book is finished and currently with a professional editor. I'll be working with artist Anthony Palumbo, whose art blew me away. Expect quality and excitement.
This Kickstarter is about more than one novel. It’s a series of characters that are both familiar and strange, both broad and human in scope. All I need is the opportunity to show them to you.
Aimee Kuzenski is the bridge between different islands of perception: theater linked to electrical design linked to Filipino stick fighting. She lives in Minneapolis with house bunnies and a far-flung network of friends who help her stay in an acceptable amount of trouble.
It takes a lot of starter cash to self-publish a novel. First, I need an editor - I am firmly of the opinion that all writers need good editors, and I don't want to publish a rough chunk of rock. I want a diamond.
Second, I need money to layout and format the ebook. It's essential that that format be available if I want people to take a chance on me as a first-time, self-published author.
Third, I want to do a small initial print run. This involves *a lot* of work - formatting and layout by a professional, cover art that can catch the eye of potential readers, the actual printing, and then attempting to get book stores to carry it, or at least let me sell it there on consignment.
Finally, this book won't go places if no one knows about it. Marketing is key to getting the word out and getting it to the right people.
