      Stephen,

You are correct. This was a teaser for an ARG set in the République universe. For players who loved the game's fiction and want more of its story, the ARG offers new insight into the Data Broker and the Overseer.

I understand people's concerns about the "legitimacy" of the link. The link is, of course, legitimate, and we would never allow anything dangerous to appear through our Kickstarter updates. The presentation was intended to create a tone and atmosphere appropriate to the "underground," 90s-style BBS flying under the radar of "Web 3.0."

I also understand your concern about accessing the first puzzle. The phone number is an unfortunate limitation for international players outside the US. Those who are unable to call a US domestic number can find the answer to the first puzzle here:

      https://wiki.gamedetectives.net/index.php…

The phone puzzle is the only step accessible primarily to a US audience, so you should have no trouble with the remainder of the ARG. We hope you jump in!

      Cassie,

We're glad you enjoyed the ARG! We were impressed with how quickly you guys got to the end. The first several users to beat the ARG received a package with bonus media set in the République universe, including a VHS tape titled "The Ugly Truth."

The packages have all been distributed now, but you can still watch an unboxing of the video here.

We are working on making the video itself available on our YouTube channel. We'll update you when it is!

      And another month passed away...

Since I'm supposed to watch my tone I just say: I am just deeply disappointed by your behaviour!

Still no word on collectors edition stuff?

    6. Mike Waters on

They've clearly realised they messed up pretty badly with the collector's edition stuff and are now sticking their heads in the sand until they figure out how to make us feel like we've got acceptable value for our $$$.

      Completely unreasonable.

I completely forgot about this, never even played the game on iOS.
      100 dollars down the drain.

    8. Billy Gilmore on

So... it's May 10th. Whatever happened to the Manifesto shipping to backers in April?

I think it's cool although I'm not going to lie. I'm too lazy for ARGs. Going to wait for others to spill the beans.

@Benjamin you do realize what kickstarter updates are about, right?

    11. Sven_Q45 on

      What?

Now that´s a short update compare to the other updates. :D

    12. Benjamin Lu on

People on the internet acting like they've never heard of an ARG before lmao

I'm intrigued but am currently outside the U.S. :(
Could anyone provide a record of the call since you guys seem to record it anyway?

    14. Porcupine on

      Yeah, inappropriate.

As far as updates go, this one seems misplaced

    16. J Martinez on

Time to unsubscribe. Thanks for the game!

Can I NOT kill my internet and say I did?

Er, yeah.. not exactly going to click on a random link called 'Kill your Internet'.
Maybe we need some more like 'Delete your System 32' or 'Not.A.Trojan.com'

Reading the comments here it appears to be some marketing thing - but restricted to America only?
      Double meh.

Living outside the US, I won't be taking part trying to phone the number to work out the code.

Ah, great idea, thanks! Ha, well, at least I got the last few numbers right by ear. :-)

    21. William Krebs on

Dialabc.com can convert .wav files to phone numbers.

    22. Jonas Rosland on

Cassie: Record the tones using the mic on your computer, then find a "dial tone decoder" or similar. You're fairly close, but I don't want to spoil anything :)

okay, I was able to figure out the five digit employee code to get into the menu you get from 4 (the wait time gives it to you, but it's the easiest possible thing to guess anyway) but I don't have a good enough ear to pick out the touchtone sounds to get the 8-digit code (at least not when I have a pay as you go phone, so listening over and over eats up minutes). I thought it was 1234122 but that ain't it.

Color me confused? I thought it was a phishing email.

    25. Jonas Rosland on

      Hint: call the number :)

    26. Andrew Ferreira on

      It's clearly marketing.

    27. Jonas Rosland on

This seems like an odd update?

    28. Martin Carter on

Well, at the very least, I'm intrigued.
